I'm due to arrive back in The Sceptred Isle on Saturday evening, and am amased to see no talk on here of delays/diversions into LHR due to the fog.

I'm sure it is just selective journalism that paints a picture that only BA Short Haul is affected by the fog. And I'm guessing that if the reduced flow rates at LHR continue my outbound plane may well be delayed thus delaying my flight from PVG.

The VA website makes no mention of delays either, but I can't believe there is no affect on them.

I'd be grateful of any REAL news of delays or cancellations so I can decide to do all my christmas shopping in shanghai incase I don't make it back in time to shop in the UK on the 24th!

And then there are the Fog problems in PVG as well.... It seems that half the world is covered in it at the moment.

The fog has been patchy, and bad in places. BA have announced they have cancelled all UK domestic flights today (Thursday), however international flights (though with the exception of some BA to Paris and near continent) seem to be reasonably OK.

I flew into Gatwick from Dubai last night, on departure we were warned of fog and potential delays, on arrival no fog and straight in ...

Hope you're not affected ... is there fog in Eire too?

I thought that it may have just been regional BA flights that were cancelled to ease the stress on the airport as the fog would certainly slow things down and eliminating some of the flights may allow the rest of ops to run more smoothly[:?]

My OH is sat at ATH, the flight is already 2 hrs late, and they just announced another 1 hour delay, due to flow control toward London.

We'll just have to see how it plays out...

I'm not affected here on the south coast but there were horrendous delays in ORK yesterday. How much of it was due to fog in ORK or flights not being allowed to fly to LHR I'm not sure. Probably the latter as flights to the continent seemed to be OK-ish but those to LHR were up to 7 hours late.

This morning does not seem to be as bad. Friends caught the 7:30 flight to LHR which left at 9:12 this morning. They are currently in LHR awaiting to fly LHR-LAX-SYD and do not expect any serious delays.

Back in Blighty now. The aircraft had a three hour delay on the outbound, but all was calm and tranquil at PVG, we were given some food vouchers which were enought for a reasonable lunch... And of course my newly aquired Gold Card had as comfortably seated quaffing free beer for the extra 3 hours.

And then we arrived at LHR was no fog, wondering what all the fuss was about!

Took us 29 hours to get back from Basle to Liverpool last Tuesday/Wednesday as the flight was cancelled. Ended up Geneva to Gatwick as the Geneva - Liverpool flight we used as an alternative also got cancelled. Train guy at Gatwick wouldn`t guarantee us a seat so we went for a hire car. No cars at Gatwick as you needed to book one before you arrived. We only got a car because my colleague`s dad is high up at Hertz. Hire car up to Liverpool to pick our car up at L/airport took 8 hours (3.5 hours to get through the Dartford tunnel - how do people do that every day?). I kept looking over my shoulder for the shower curtain ring salesman to show up.
Anyone had a longer trip back for such a short distance?
