No TPs or Miles for the Great Escapade?

Read the Sunday Times Travel magazine on my return VS flight from PVG. It says "you can't collect air miles on RTW (round the world) tickets".

Is this true for the Great Escapade tickets?

I need to go to PVG in late Feb, then SIN in early Mar. I am considering buying a Great Escapade ticket and do a LHR-PVG-SIN-(somewhere in USA)-LHR trip. But if I can't get any TPs and miles, obviously it is not worth to do that.

Someone at Sunday Times is clueless then. I collected miles on all sectors of my Star Alliance RTW last year, and a friend qualified VS Gold on a Great Escapade.

as long as the carriers are partners, (and the booking class is an 'earning class') you should earn miles and TP for any RTW flights, Escapade or otherwise.

When have you ever known a journalist to know what they are talking about? Makes me laugh when I see all the 'computer problem' pages in various newspapers and magazines where people write in - I can tell you for free that it's not normally the publications staff that answer the damn things, they normally end up on my desk! We have a very busy press centre that has to handle all the questions from these 'experts'.

Correct, and this is one of my bugbears. I am sorry to say that in my experience journalists can be dangerous things. There are two particularly bad strains, lazy ones who don't bother to check their facts, and mischievous ones who want to get some prime column inches and also don't check their facts. But why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
