Just seeing if anyone has heard anything or knows what's going on with the FVC?

Last time I spoke to anyone at V Hols (October '06) ideas where still being thrown around but since then I've not heard anything at all.

Does anybody else know what's going on or heard anything? Does the FVC still actually exist [:?]

Regards

It must still exist James because they emailed me a couple of days ago, although I haven't booked a VH package for a couple years.

No idea when or if they will open to new members again though or what, if any, changes they will make.

I had made a note to ask this precise question, but forgot [:#] Thanks for the reminder James.

What has happened to the changes promised to the FVC [:?]

Have you read the blurb on the VH site here - seems to me that the 10% is going to be curtailed for any new members - maybe it was costing them too much??

And just who are those customers they asked about the benefits we want - I'm sorry - but that is pure marketing bull****!!

It appears that the 10% discount will still be offered to Flying Club members when booking Virgin Holidays after the changes due in March, so I guess if you wish to secure the 10%, given it costs nothing to join FC, this is the way to go.

I hadn't seen that FAQ before - looks like existing members will be fine, but for new people they will not just go on 'have you booked 3 holidays with us'? Looks like it will be more 'are you flying in PE or above, and have you flown with us in the last x years'?

Remember that previously the discount and benefits applied even if you hadn't been on a VH for years (but had done 3 prior), which is not true loyalty. VS learnt their lesson with that approach a number of years ago where once you had 10 of the old TP's, you got Silver for life, and then the PE check-ins were littered with people that were now only flyign once a year in Economy - there were thousands of these 'stale' members. Think about it, if you were Gold on VS for a year or two, and then went off to another airline or stopped travelling for a few years, and then decided to come back, your Gold benefits from before would no longer apply, you would have to start right back at Red again.

Thanks,
Richard

Is this just gold FC members that get 10% off Virgin Holidays?

Hi everyone,

I work for the company, and I know that internally we haven't heard anything to confirm or deny the future of the 10% discount. As things stand at the moment, FVC has been closed to new members, with an announcement expected soon to confirm the new details of FVC. Until then, everything is really just speculation as details are still being finalised, and the guys are keeping pretty tight-lipped about it all :)

I just wish they'd offer more choice. For example the list of NYC hotels isn't that great, and whilst I've used them in the past, I'm booking direct on the next trip due to the limited choice available. Also, if VS has a sale fare, it's cheaper to book flight and hotel separately. [?]
