Changes to Tickets

Hello

It's my first post on here, I wonder if someone would be kind enough to help me?

I am booking tickets with Virgin to Las Vegas in June to attend the wsop. My husband has a demanding job which may mean that we will not be able to travel. Would we be able to change to names on the tickets so that other family members would be able to travel instead?

I know it says changes can be made for £50, but does this include names?

Regarding changing names on tickets, no airline will allow this. The changes the refer to on their website are date changes etc....It is due to security reasons they won't change it. Would your husbands company not compensate you for cancelling your holiday? As travel insurance won't cover this either?

Hey Jar - welcome to the site, great to have you here.

The only other option would be to book full-fare or flexible tickets that you can cancel / change the dates of. However this can be a very expensive way of doing it unfortunately.

Many thanks for the replies, very kind of you. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford flexible fares, basic old economy us me at the moment.

I've never been in first/upper class on any flight ever - one day I hope to though, but it won't be yet. £410.70 for a economy return flight to Las Vegas.... gulp!!!!

I shall just have to keep my fingers crossed that the dates we choose will be ok. It would make me feel sick if we lost the trip and the tickets...[:$]

I stand corrected Decker! Most of the charter flights I think allow name changes, I should of said most of the reputable airlines do not allow name changes! I.E BA/QF/VS/SQ/CX the list goes on! But good to know on Aer Arran!

Its excellent, it means that you are allowed to join as a Red member of V-Flyer. Memberships should be available soon and will enable you to extra features and forums on the site!

Given the fact that the original topic referred to a flight to Las Vegas, I had a sudden, mind-boggling vision of an Aer Arann* plane heading off over the Atlantic.

*Ahem! I know you know that Arran is part of Scotland and the Aran Islands for which Aer Arann is named is off the west coast of Ireland [|:)]

And more interestingly:
1) As he is thinking he is flying Aer Arran I wonder if he will miss his Air Arann flight?
2) How has Decker got to have so much time on his hands that he can read the T&C of an air ticket?!

I've not looked at any SF flights recently, but something that is worth remembering for future reference is that sometimes it can be (not always!) cheaper to get to Vegas by flying Virgin to San Fran and then connect to Vegas. We did this when we went - its a bit more hassle, but if it saves a few bob then sounds good to me.

It actually shows you in big print on the booking page - no perusal required. But yes - I do tend to read legal documents I'm asked to put my name to. Speaking of which now have a new Sony VAIO to replace the malfunctioning one - 'cos of reading the warranty )
