OK, I'm being exceptionally dumb here, but I've just been indulging myself with a little fantasy flight planning for later this year: If one wants to do LHR-SYD with a few days in Hong Kong, does one book LHR-HKG and HKG-SYD separately? And does this make it more expensive than going straight through to SYD?

Been faffing on the VS site for ages (and yes, I've also searched on here!) and can't work it out. Clearly my brain has seized up today.

No it shouldn't make it anymore expensive as VS offer free stopovers in HKG, the only thing that will be more is expensive is the tax, as you will have to pay that. I am doing the stopover on my way home, it is a long haul no matter what class you are in to go all the way through.

Hi Dominic. Thanks for that. Now, when you say 'stopover' is this done by booking LHR-SYD then making arrangements with VS, or do you literally buy 2 single tickets to get you to SYD.

No need to apologise, I have looked on their website, when I was checking my flight i book my flight to SYD, then it asked if I wanted to stop over in Honkers, but when checking now it isn't doing it? Unless I am missing something, it may seem you need to call them booking the flight to SYD with a few days in HKG!

To get the stop-over option make sure that you dont select the 'Lowest fares +/- 3 days' option and select 'Flights on these exact dates' option instead.
