Hi,

I'll be flying LHR-HKG on 22nd Nov (and onwards) and with the aid of a helpful telesales guy at Virgin I have chosen seats. I just wanted to check with you guys what you thought about the seats I have chosen - as I mentioned in another post I've never flown a flight as long as this before so I want to get as much comfort as possible!

22nd Nov: VS200 LHR-HKG: 4K
26th Nov: VS200 HKG-SYD: 5K
4th Dec: VS201 SYD-LHR: 21K

I think I'm fairly OK with the UC seats from what I have read on this site, my only little concern is the return journey in 21K:

The config showing up on my booking is the one with rows 18-22 in PE with A&C, D&F&G, H&K and then row 23 D&F&G.

- So if that is what is used I would be the penultimate row of PE with a window seat? BUT if the other config is used then I seem to be the last row (beside the WC)?
- Am I right in thinking that they may use either of these configs?
- If so, should I switch my seat?
- The only available seats showing on the plan are 20F, 21F, 22G, 23D, 23F, 23G
- I think I read that one of the seats on row 21 has the IFE box under the seat in front - thus limiting leg room?

What do you think? Or should I just chill out?!

Thanks in advance, gurus....[|:)]

OK - I'll chill out then.. ;)

No worries - I've had a good read of lots of posts - I think it all depends which type of aircraft I will be on so I think the best option is to discuss at CI!

Hi Mazzy

The Upper seats you mentioned are fine, i am sure you have checked the seat rating page, those get some of the higest ratings.

As for 21K in PE:

- So if that is what is used I would be the penultimate row of PE with a window seat?

If its config 1, then you are the last row, infront of the toilets. If its config 2, penultimate 'full' row and not directly infront of the toilets, but there is a row of just 3 seats (row 23) sandwiched between the toilets.

- Am I right in thinking that they may use either of these configs?

Yes, though if you keep checking your seatmap it will show you the proposed configuration. This can change, but whatever is showing leading up to your trip is most likely to be what you'll get

- If so, should I switch my seat?

Its up to individual preference on how bothered you are by the restrooms. Personally, id move to row 20 as you can get a bit of passenger traffic around the toilets.

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks for that Sarah!

I'll keep an eye on the seating map for the return journey - thanks for your advice!

To be honest i think you have a good seat where you are. Im booked in row 21 on Config 2 for my flight from JFK next month, so i'll happily give you an update when i get back - unless the Gods are smiling on me and i get op-upped of course! :).

If it says Config 2 now, i would imagine that is most likely to be what you'll get. If the aircraft gets changed its usually to one with more seating, not less.

As for the IFE box, i cant recall 100%, but i think all the window seats have the box under them. Yes it does infringe on some of the footwell, but not enough for me to warrant getting upset over it. I can still squeeze my oversized handbag and Floyd in there.

Thanks,
Sarah

I'd change from 21 to somewhere more forward - 20/19. Apart from toilet traffic, the light showing whether it's occupied or not can be quite bright, especially when green.
