Apologies now if this seems obvious to many of you, but I'm puzzled by the fare codes[:#]

In April, as soon as the bookings open, I want to book UC seats to Sydney for next February. We are flying out to join a cruise so the dates are set and we won't need a flexible ticket.

Which fare code will get, and more importantly, will this provide us with car transfers before and after the flight? We will be returning with Singapore Airlines from SIN (Business Class)so I assume there won't be any transfers then anyway?

Thanks in advance.

There's a load of detail here Gilly

And I think I'm right in saying that its a D or J fare that has the Limo transfer included. You can of course use 10,000 miles to have the limo transfer if you fly on a Z or reward ticket (G)

That's interesting. When I paid for our Z fares this December to MCO, I was informed that I could not use miles to get a limo service!
Only on rewards

I think that a D fare would be most suitable - it comes with some restrictions, offers a dicount on J fares and has limo transfers.

Hi Alan,

That is correct. You can only book a limo for 10k if you are travelling on a G fare. Book a Z and you have to look after your own transport unfortunately...:D

If you are booking a ONE WAY Upper class flight - it will be in J, the highest level of fare class for Upper, and it will come with a CDC (Chauffeur Driven Car). This is the way it works with one way fares - they are only sold as highest, flexible fares.

Upper class (Business) fare class codes are Z, D & J. Z is the cheapest, non-flexible, non-refundable and no transport included, D is semi-flex and J is fully flexible. Both D & J fares have the CDC.

This is likely to be a pretty penny, so to be fair, i'd look at a return with SQ as it would likely work out cheaper for you if you are coming back with them anyway?

Thanks,
Sarah

We are looking at a VA return flying out with VA and back with SA. They suggested it would be around the £3,000 mark which I though wasn't too bad....which class would you think that would be?

Hi Gilly,

Where are you flying to/from? To SYD and home from SIN? If you are talking to VS direct, they'll be able to tell you the fare class code they are booking you in. I'd hope it was a D for £3k though, but depending on when you are going it could be a Z - no CDC.

Thanks,
Sarah

We're flying LHR to SYD then SIN to LHR. They quoted us for this year...just to give us an idea ....it was £3,200 and said if we book at the 11 month mark, we should save a few hundred, so I sort of assumed about £3,000. So if it's a D I'd get the limos ...yes?

Thanks for helping:)

There really is no way to be sure just from the price, as it all depends how busy the flight is during that time. I would think that a £3200 SYD fare would be a D, but I've seen Z's go for just under £3k.

You really need to ask VS as they will be able to tell you what the booking class they have on screen is. If it is a D fare then yes you will get the CDC. Note that these are not white stretch limo's (hence calling them CDC's), it will probably be a nice Volvo, but still a lovely start to the trip.

Flying J on Singapore should be fantastic too, there are a lot of SQ fans here!

Thanks,
Sarah
