Do VS use anonymous flyers to assess the on-board service? Maybe undisclosed members of staff or more likely an external agency who cabin crew will not recognise?

I normally find VS cabin crew great (informal and friendly) but the mixed review of the variablity of service leads me to wonder (same when I fly BA as well). Are crew "extra nice" when they suspect that they may be secretly assessed. Or are the lucky few of us to get addressed by name attended to by that rare cabin crew member who makes the extra effort. I have seen occassionally list of UC pax name stuck on the galley wall for reference or are these only for meal orders.

The list of pax is partly for meal orders, but with good crew also for name. FC Status is also known to crew, which is why you often get called by name or bought a glass of bubbly if you are AU.

Don't know about the anon assessment I am afraid.

I am sure both VS and BA use secret shoppers, in the early days of V-flyer I used to take notes, enquire about the aircraft's reg and generally be a total anorak. On both airlines I have had the 3rd degree as to what I did for a living from senior crew(always very politely).
