Well sat at airport checking emails and feel sick to the stomach.
Luckily i am meeting a girl who is also going to the interview so i suppose two is better than one eh/!
Will let you all know how i get on
Fingers crossed for me eh?

Hope all goes well and that the eye and sore throat are both getting better -did you opt for the red or black suit in the end?

If your face hurts from smiling then I'm sure you did great. Using lots of examples of your CS experiences really helps and extending your answers. If you've worked in Customer Service for a while then you're in for an excellent chance.
The wait from the interview to the postman coming is the worst ever! Let us know how you got on.

Hey Guys,
Everything was going really well and i was through to the 2 for 1 personal interview then my whole world collapsed.......
They doubled checked my height and it turns out i am only 5ft 1in[:0]
Although i had my height checked a few months ago by my dr (long story on this one)and he confirmed at the time i was 5ft 2in but Virgin were adament i was an inch short.
I am really devasted and felt i have wasted Virgin time & my time also and my dreams are now shattered. It really means that if i want to fly cabin crew now i can only do the wee planes which dont pay very well at all.[:#]
The day was fantastic and i think they were impressed with my knowledge of Virgin.I wore my black suit with red shirt for luck and had my hair all neatly tied up.
It was a great experience for me and they really made you feel at ease.
But sadly i was the only girl out of a group of 12(everyone else went through) that got escorted out of the crew room and how bad did that make me feel?![:#]

How I feel for you Ger- I too am about the same height (well in truth I'm probably not even 5"1').Airlines remain pretty rigorous about the height thing, even though lots of organisations (like many police forces) have lowered the height requirement for candidate applications.Hope the disappointment doesn't get you too despondant.

Truly sorry to hear it didn't work out.
An empathetic ouch from here; been in that situation, and it hurts. (It also brings back those painful memories of being picked last for the teams at school...but therapy is helping there).
I doubt they feel that way. Sounds more like they'll be disappointed that they couldn't make use of your skills and enthusiasm.

We can get better, because we're not dead yet
I am sorry too. It is something I've always wanted to do, however the pay isn't that great (so I've heard!)
At least you did really well, that is something. [y]

It's a real shame when people get sent home because of this but maybe you could apply again. There will be a different recruitment team and if you were challenged on your height again then you could give them a doctors note. They shouldn't keep your name on the computers because of the Data Protection Act or something.
I know it's not very straight but it worked for a girl on my course and apparently more crew from other airlines too.

Sorry to hear that Ger [:#]
Getting a note from you doctor is a good idea if you where to try again.
One of my friends was turned down as VS cabin crew beacause she's had laser vision correction treatment on her eyes (although VS arn't the only employer who reject applicants for this)

Thank you all for your kind comments.
Funnily enough i feel a bit brighter today as i have been in touch with Flightline who dont have amin height and i spoke to a gentleman who recruits at Logainair and he seemed quite keen and they dont have a min height restriction either but it would be domestics from Glasgow.
I dont think i could go through another interview with VS to be turned away again.

Going back to when I had my interview, they checked your height (and weight back then) as soon as you had completed the group stage of the interview.
You then went on to sit a maths test and then the final 2-1 interview

I understand that in terms of flight crew medicals, laser correction is treated the same as optical (lens-based) correction, when they assess your eyesight.
You're supposed to declare any laser correction when you apply, including what your original vision was, and what your laser corrected vision is.
Ger, what a sad end to your day, but great to see that you aren't giving up.
Good luck with Flightline or Loganair. Flightline might be quite an interesting challenge. Because of the nature of the business - VIP charter, private charters, or wet-lease for other carriers - I'd guess no two days are quite the same!
