I thought nobody ever flew from Gate 1. Ever.

I was quite surprised (and a little bit confused) when I went to catch the VS03 last Friday. I walked out of the CH on auto pilot and proceded to walk to gates 36-40 just presuming that VS will be over that way. It wasn't until half way there that I realised I had to turn back and go all the way to Gate one.

I don't know how long its been open, but that whole new area down there is much nicer. And I did indeed experience gate 1.

Cheers!

We came back in through Gate 1 on Saturday morning - on VYOU. Very pleasant. We left through Gate 3 and I was (almost) as surprised as you.

There was no queue, most were on the plane anyway so no chance for the Mrs D in me to come out :D

Gates 1 to 9 (is it) are really nice - light and bright, spacious, clean and tidy. I wish all of T3 was up to the same standard.

If you fly Emirates in J or F their lounge has a side door directly on to gate 7, and they check your boarding pass and passport in the lounge. That's even cooler!

Flew from Gate1 last July out to SFO - lovely - as has been said, loads of space and nice and airy.

I feel deeply offended by that comment. What makes 'her' so special? [:p]

Gates 1 - 7 are part of the new pier which will eventually be used for the A380's. They've been open for quite a while now. Yes they are quite nice and airy and at present clean and modern but they aren't without their problems.

I'm proud to say I was the Sub Project Leader on the pier 5&6 vertical segregation project including gates 1-7, and all of the new arrival level upstairs and as G-VOPS said these gates are for the A380's and they have been open for about 16 months now. :D:D:D

Oh don't worry, you're not forgotten. I was only having an hour plus discussion with various members of staff at the new Hilton Manchester a couple of weeks back re: not being allowed into the bar.
Many times did I think "what would Mannion do?" :D

They look nice but as they've in LHR nothing bloody works there!

Jettys, printers, computers, PA....you name it it's broken already!

Give us Gates 35-42 and day!

Ah, you may like 35-42 but as a customer I think they're too bloody far away. Hope the new gates' probs are fixed soon.

The new gates are not close, but I think they're still nearer than 35-42.
And its a nicer walk too.

One thing I didn't notice, are there double decker jettys for the A380. Didn't notice those, but then again I wasn't particulary looking.
