Oh I hope so!!!!

That will make life sooo much better for us, and makes perfect sense for VS.

I agree, its great news ( if it happens) - but if VS start offering more flights from MAN they will have to start giving some serious thought to the lounge they use and/or a VS clubhouse:D

MAN-JFK is already served by 4-5 carriers. Thats going to be a tough nut to crack.

Wonder what is going to happen with BA's service now FlyBe have got the rights to it ?

If the BA route disppears then you would think that VS would be in there like a shot....:D

This rumour is as old as Babbage himself, though i would not be surprised to see it. If any real expansion comes from MAN then VS needs a prime route like JFK/ORD.

Thanks,
Sarah

BE dont have the rights to the MAN-JFK service- it was kept by BA as part of the deal. And the BE deal has been delayed.

Only two carries on MAN-NYC route currently that being CO and BA. I dont think it will be a tough nut to crack- no tougher than any route open recently from LHR: ORD springs to mind.

Interestingly DL doesnt come up on Expedia or Ebookers for that matter.

Am not sure if PIA are still operating the route since their 743's were banned from UK airports. There is another thread on a.net at the moment saying that PIA will be banned outright from Europe soon.

DL is on Manchester Airport live departures direct to jfk so i guess that must mean they have an active flight schedual and PIA are also showing as a schedualed flight to JFK same for next week also so I guess they must be flying with an active schedual to JFK.

Have a look on manchester airpor web page.

Cheers Wayne

Let's hope that this rumour will come true.

But wasn't there a rumour a while back about a MAN-LAS route?

Are you the one who posted on a.net Mark?!? Excellent TR over there- better than the usual VS bashing I have seen in the past.

Just been trawling through the Manchester UK News Thread 10 on a.net and there's talk whether or not BA might be axing MAN-JFK.

What's this got to do with VS, well the talk on there is also pointing that VS may launch MAN-JFK whether BA pulls the route or not.

More solid news on there is that from May the BA MAN-JFK route will be covered by LHR crews and that some of the younger BA crew have moved to VS [y]

VS have never been shy about launching a route that already has plenty of competition have they though? Would certainly make trips alot easier for me as long as it wasnt served by a gatwick based a/c!

I would consider going through Manchester to get to JFK but no way via Heathrow

Personally I would rather go through LHR than DUB

Honey I agree with you but lets be honest , JFK is not what one would call a very long flight (7.5 hrs max from Dublin direct) and if you have to go through Heathrow its such a long haul changing terminals etc - HOwever Manchester is a 30 min flight from Dublin and its nothing changing from Terminal to terminal there , if indeed you would need to if you flew with Aer LIngus to Man.

Except that it's easier to get to LHR from ORK than it is to get to DUB; it is 10 times easier to get to LHR than it is to MAN; you have to ensure that your returning flight is not one that stops in SNN first.

I stand corrected Honey - I am as usual thinking of myself based in Dublin.

Apparently AA are axing the MAN-BOS route (again) early from the 29th October 2007.

One for VS perhaps?
