You were really helpful before, so I ask for it again. I just need a few questions I couldn't find the answer to by searching.
Firstly, When I use OLCI, will my reserved seats be available? Can anyone else pinch them by using OLCI?
Secondly, Whats the LHR security queues like now, and how busy does the bag Drop get.
Thirdly, What meals are on offer in economy, so I'll know whether to bring extra food.
Your help here will be sincerly appreciated.
(I know I keep asking things, but this is my first trip without parents :D so I like to be prepared.)

flying on VS19 now, (in the clubhouse at the moment) queues at security seemed pretty busy (I was in fast track, but the normal queue seemed quite long) managed to avoid the second phase shoe scan though...

Check-in area was pretty busy, half a dozen at PE quite a few for the economy desks, but not massively busy (if that makes sense)

If you have got your seats selected already, when you do OLCI they will still be there and nobody else can select them at OLCI stage. Once you have done OLCI the seats will be yours unless they need to be changed at the airport for operational reasons.

David, you lucky...;)

I would advise getting there with plety of time to spare as queues can be quite bad at that time in the morning.

The current menus for Economy are:-

LHR-SFO

Chicken with penne pasta, mushroom sauce and broccoli.

Beef stew with carrots, broccoli and roast potatoes.

Mushroom risotto with spinach, cherry tomatoes and parmesan.

During the flight there will be ice cream and a hot snack. About 2 hours before arrival there is an afternoon tea service.

SFO-LHR

BBQ beef with mashed potato, carrots and broccoli.

Chicken breast with egg noodles, green beans, squash and parmesan.

Vegetable canneloni with a chunky tomato sauce and parmesan.

Before arrival back at LHR there is a breakfast service.

It's always good to have a 2nd or 3rd meal choice in mind as we sometimes run out of your 1st (or 2nd) preference.

Just out of interest, what % of each meal do you load on each flight? is it equal or do you know what is more popular and therefore load more of those ones?

The ratios vary from route to route. To give you an idea, it would be something like 50% chicken, 40% beef and 10% veg. On every flight we complete a catering report where we note the accuracy of the ratios. If there is a trend identified then the ratios are adjusted accordingly.

Hope this makes sense as I've just landed so the grey matter is a bit fuzzy!

Thanks for the info.
I'm currently seated in the 2nd from last row where there's just 2 seats, so I assume this is the first section to recieve service?
(The stew and bbq beef both sound excellent choices lol)

Thanks for the help. I plan to get to the airport by 5am at the latest. That should be ok I assume

Checkin opens just after 6 so you might be a little early if anything

Just to let you know that Check in doesn't open until 6am, but by the time they get sorted it is more around 0615-ish.

Have a great trip!

The service normally starts at the front and works backwards given my past experience. I would have thought that the back few rows would be the last to be served even though they are closest to the rear galley...:D

I've had seats near the back before and was served first (was flight VS028). I've noticed the reviews on seat guru and on here that service seems to be first for these seats (perhaps a crew member can help?)

As for the airport arrival, I've always said its better to be early than late, and I guess I can always grab something to eat beforehand anyway.

I went through T3 on Saturday at 4.30pm and the non-Fast-Track security took under 10 mins (huge relief!). Noticed a separate shoe scanner immediately just after the main security and before passport control - I think this definitely helps to reduce the queues. At 6am this should be a breeze!

The Economy service on the 747 normally starts at the front and back to meet in the middle of the cabin. If you are seated 2 rows from the back then you would normally get your 1st choice of meal.
