Quick advice as the Virgin Atlantic Partner Miles Tool in the FAQ isn't working...

I am flying LHR-JFK-MIA-LHR soon, if I do the JFK-MIA with continetal in First, will I get tier point/s? Also any idea how many miles?

If no good I will do it via AA to get the BA miles and 40 BA TPs.

2 TPs each way as you would be in First (no CO lounge access) and you must connect. Make certain that you are not on regional planes.

Thanks but what do you mean must connect? I am in NYC for 4 nights before going to Miami.

Question Ben, just took a look on va.com in an effort to get the answer (but you beat me to it ;) )....according to VA you get 2TP's for 1st Class flights over 2K miles and 1TP for flights under 2K miles. On my FC statement it shows a flight we took last year from LAS-ATL in DL 1st, states 1419 miles & I was awarded 2TP's. Maybe I got lucky?

Cheers

As per the Virgin Atlantic site, partners other than Singapore & ANA earn 1 TP each way under 2000 miles and 2 TP each way over 2000 miles (when flying in Business or First - in Economy it's 0 and 1 TP respectively).

If you're booking LHR-JFK & JFK-MIA as separate flights, then I guess you could squeeze a maximum of 6 TPs out of it (2 x 2TP LHR-JFK + 2 x 1TP JFK-MIA)

As JFK to MIA is just over 1000 miles, that's 1TP each way.

However, if you were to do the LHR-JFK legs in Virgin metal, you'd be earning 10 TPs.

I guess it depends on how many TPs short in either BA or VS of the next tier?

Well I only have 4 now, so am doing LHR-JFK and MIA-LHR with Virgin, then JFK-MIA will give me the extra 1 TP to get to silver...

Sounds right to me. 10TPs flying VS LHR-JFR Upper return, then 2PTs flying JFK-MIA First return. Add that to your existing 4TPs, and you have 16 - which is 1 more than you need for a Silver card.

I respectfully disagree.

In order to fly with CO in F JFK to MIA one must connect; causing jimbob247 to travel on two flights (each less than 2,000 miles). CO does not fly JFK-MIA non-stop. Therefore jimbob247 would earn one tier point per flight travel JFK to MIA via IAH making the total JFK - MIA CO F four tier points.

If jimbob247 were to fly LHR-EWR-MIA he would be able to connect from VS to CO then fly non-stop to MIA in First.

Thanks guys, I do 'need' to fly into JFK, but do not need to do the New York to Miami leg from there...

Ah, I see. Didn't check whether CO JFK-MIA was a direct route or not.

Ben, following through on what I mentioned earlier in the thread, we flew DL 1st LAS-BOS via ATL last year and were each credited with 4 TP's - here's a paste from my FC statement >>

06 Oct 2006 Delta Airlines LAS-ATL First Class Flight 2,621 2
06 Oct 2006 Delta Airlines ATL-BOS First Class Flight 1,419 2

Sounds like we should have ended up with 3!

To be honest HL it makes no odds if they rectify the mistake, whilst we fly UC a lot, we only ever pay for EC or PE & upgrade with miles, hence we'll never rack up enough TP's to hit Au!

Good point Nick.

Food for thought: Maybe SQ will be flying the new pimp'ed-out B777 or A380 on the SIN-KUL so crews can practice landings and such......
