What's the story with on board drinks services? I've read a few times they do a "juice run"..does that mean that drinks from the bar are not free throughout your journey (like BA)? Do FA's refuse to serve alcohol, unless it's wine with you meal? What's the policy?
All drinks, including alcohol are free for the duration of your flight. In PE and Economy, the crew will come round the cabin carrying tray of water and juice for passengers. This is in addition to drinks at standard service times. If you require more drinks you can simply call a cabin crew member with the call bell.
You can have alcohol at any time, and as much as you like, though the crew do reserve the right to stop serving alcohol to anybody who is clearly inebriated.
Thanks,
Sarah

So I won't get any funny looks or anything? Ya see, I'm flying on my birthday, so I wanted to have a few drinkies throughout the flight (not get wasted like, just merry!).
Where are you flying to? and in what class?
If you are sat in your seat and having a few drinks, not being loud or offensive, then i am sure you will be able to enjoy a nice few. Don't forget that drinking onboard can be a hazard in the event that there is an incident on board, an emergency evacuation for example, and it is in the best interests of all onboard to ensure that all passengers are at least partially on the ball.
Be sensible about it and you will be fine.
Thanks,
Sarah

Of course there is an alternative POV Sarah. For my part, if there is an incident on board which is significant enough that my sobriety may become a factor in my survival, then I think I would rather be steaming
.
Oh, and I think you may find the OP is off to HK sitting in seats 37a/38a (Call it a lucky guess on my part;). I knew all that Fortune Telling training I did when I was a Lion Tamer would come in handy).

And remember you are going thru immigration when you land. May not be a good idea to overly enjoy the free booze; especially if landing in Dubai.
That said, my goal when flying is the free booze. 4 Stella, 2 Heineken and 1 crap glass of wine was my new record set 03DEC2006 LHR-JFK. And that was after the CH.
More the merrier!
