Hello to you all,

I wonder if all of you experts out there can help me please?

My Husband and I were to travel on to JFK in December. We used miles plus money and have K class tickets for PE. As a complete bolt out of the blue, I have just found out that I am pregnant and the baby is due around the time of our trip. On the e-ticket that we have it says no changes/refunds.

Does anyone know of a way to have the tickets changed please? We would either like to still fly but at a different time, or give the tickets to a friend.

Thank you in advance.

Normally as the ticket says there are no changes or refunds.

However call FC and explain your situation, who knows they may be nice and change them for you for a fee.

Thank you. I must confess to have been putting off calling them, but I guess you are right, I should just bite the bullet and do it. After all, they can only say no!!

Thank you

Assuming it's a KKXMEG or a KLXAP then the following applies

WAIVER FOR ILLNESS OF PASSENGER OR IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER ONLY APPLIES IN THE EVENT OF CERTIFABLE HOSPITALISATION. -

for changes/cancellation. So assuming they see giving birth as an illness you should be ok :)

Congratulations and welcome to V-Flyer!
FOR K-AP TYPE FARES CHANGES BEFORE DEPARTURE CHARGE GBP 50.00.

Do you have annual travel insurance as that might help too?

Thank you.

On the ticket, I can only see that it is a K class. Sorry if I am missing something obvious, but that is a relief to see that there may be a small chance. Thank you.

I will leave it a few weeks (not wishing to tempt fate!) and give the guys a Virgin a call.

The annual travel insurance is a brilliant suggestion, thank you. Whilst we don't have an annual travel policy, most of my travelling is business travel, we do have some kind of travel policy via our bank, so will also check that option.

Thanks again.

if it is miles plus money, it can normally be changed (subject to availability and any difference in seasonality/fare) for £50 per person. though normally non-refundable. a phone call should confirm details for you.

I am sorry to take so long to post a reply, I did not want to tempt fate and get in touch with VA before the baby had passed all of it's tests.

Virgin will do one of two things. They will change the ticket to any destination or to any time between now and 24th Feb 2008, which will be one year from when I booked the ticket.

The second thing that they will do is to claim a refund of the taxes paid on our behalf.

I guess Virgin have been reasonable, however for us the offer of the change is not possible due to house moves and Husband working in a school. However to get the taxes back, is better than having nothing.

Thank you again to everyone for your help.
