VS to KUL - late 07 ??

Last friday whilst booking a miles flight from PVG - LHR I was chatting about new routes, life in asia etc etc. I was informed by the guy on the gold team that KUL will be served ex LGW later in 2007, initially as a seasonal route.

Does anybody know anything about this?

Could this be the service that takes over the suspended Nassau route?

I havn't read the links on other thread (sorry, simply can't be bothered tonight) but if Vs were to serve KUL (no bad thing I hasten to add) I couldn't see it being out of LGW or seasonal.
I've never seen KUL as a conventional B&S route, nor one that would be exceptionally busier at certain times of the year.

Nonetheless, as a future destination I would be happy.

I agree with Dean - I don't see the route being ex-LGW and, in any case, what metal would be used then? There doesn't seem to be much spare at LGW.
AFAIK, BA doesn't fly to KUL...(although ISTBC)

I think LGW was mentioned because easyJet has a hub there and it doesn't fly out of LHR for obvious reasons. There's no point having a 3-way low cost alliance if they don't link to each other, so it makes perfect sense to have a LGW-KUL flight. I really can't see B&S being an issue here if all of those 'Malaysia Truly Asia' adverts are anything to go by.

And also where's the aircraft going to come from to do the LGW-KUL leg?

Referring to djluvmee's comment about the suspended Nassau route is this so that there's a plane to do GLA-MCO now that it is to operate independent from VS073?

The Nassau route operates on a Monday, but the new Glasgow to Orlando route will opperate on a Saturday.

There is no way SIA would let this go ahead - Dont SIA have their own "budget airline anyway"

Also, the Mauritius route is meant to be starting in late 2007.

I was thinking the same thing.

Perhaps Air Asia are going to buy SQ's share of VS?

Per article on BBC website here the Malysian transport minister will be at a press conference tomorrrow, so could be a big announcement.

The plane used for Nassau is going to be used for a Sunday MAN-ORL service to bring the VS75/76 daily
