I have just been reading the hand luggage restrictions and I'm not quite sure what they mean, please can anyone enlighten me.

The restrictions say:-

'Passengers will be able to buy liquids including drinks and perfumes either in an EU airport shop after security control, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU airline. If they are sold in a special sealed bag, passengers must not open them before they are screened otherwise the contents may be confiscated at the security checkpoint.'

Does this mean that the bottle of water that I buy at the cafe in the departure lounge after security, cannot be opened before we board the aircraft. Or can I take it onboard sealed and open it onboard?

My daughter really prefers to have a bottle of water as those little plastic cups that are dished out containing a mouthful, are just about a waste of time.

I think the 'restrictions' apply to anything you plan to LEAVE the aircraft with, so entering another EU airport with liquid.

So - you should be able to open and drink the water you purchase, as long as it was purchased 'airside' (as they will have removed it from you at security if you purchased it landside.)

My understanding on this is that they are bascially saying you cant take you own liquids though airport security to an airside area any more.

You can, however, buy liquids once airside and take them with you on your onward journey, as these have all been deemed as safe by airport security.
