Flying out tonight on Y on G-VATL, one of the older ladies on the block, no new Y seats or PE.....which makes me think she is quite scrabby looking, interior wise...or am I just making a presumption?

I would guess at 3.5 years old it would be difficult to describe Miss Kitty as an 'old lady'. This cabin photo on airliners.net was the most recent I could find (from 2005), so may not be indicative of the condition now, but I would still describe it as a pretty modern aircraft interior.

I flew G-VATL to SYD in Dec and she was immaculate in PE. My initial disapointment of missing out on the new seating was soon diminished as the old offering is still very good.

Don't worry you should enjoy your trip...:D

Just out of interest - I take it your already at JNB and have seen G-VATL on remote stand.

If so, you have a fair wait on your hands until tonight's departure..:)

Actually did a acars search and found it that way

http://www.acarsd.org/acars_search.html

But you right even its quite a wait...first the traffic to OR Tambo...and then quite a wait..and then walking to to back of the aircraft should also take a while...and seeing that all London flights almost take off at the same time from JHB the wait at LHR immigration should be fun

The BA and SAA flights arrive in Terminal 1 and the VS flight in Terminal 3 so the only crowds will be generated by aircraft from other destinations and not JNB

It should be fine, 3.5yrs old isn't too bad, hope you enjoy the flight. Look forward to the TR. I have to say though from the picture Pete posted, the seats look rather thin? Hope they aren't too uncomfortable. ;)

I hope that is just the effect of the fish-eye lens used to take the photo. [:0]:)

Those Y seats are the previous 'new' seats and are perfectly comfortable, for Y seats. Go for one which are NOT bulkhead, as you get more width room and the armrests can lift up and completely out of the way, adding to a feel of spaciousness. AND you should have V-Port!

It's actually one of the youngest a/c in the fleet, considering the age of the 744s and A343s.
