With the imminent smoking ban in public places does anyone know if the rooftop terrace at the Heathrow clubhouse will be a smoking area
I can't help wondering how many people will see the roof garden as a non-enclosed area (which of course it is) and will try to sneak a quick puff there.

I cant help wondering how many smokers..well ok me, will be avoiding LHR/LGW/ the whole of the UK if we can help it, combine the having to check in 20 hrs before your flights, another 20 hrs to get through the security lines/ BAA incompetence test and silverjet/maxjet/Eos is looking a lot nicer.

Scrooge,
It will be the same at those airports as well, in fact anywhere where there are enclosed public spaces, any company vehicle whiche more than one person can use, all pubs, restaraunts, clubs etc etc.
I understand that, however take a look at the time it takes to get through security etc at LTN and STN, check-in plus security for the 3 airlines I mentioned is quicker than check-in for VS...trust me on that one..been there, done it.This may also be a factor in VS going for an all J off shot, the people in suits just don't want to waste that much of their time waiting around to get on a plane, club house etc are nice, but you don't make much money there.
Anyways getting OT...If silverjet starts LAS/LAX ops I am all over it, for now MY is looking nicer and nicer..shorter security lines at LAS, a lot less hassle at STN over LGW/LHR...more time to smoke one.

the upside of your logic is that by the time your onboard you will be a non smoker[:o)]
Scrooge, my dear fellow, you're just going to have to bite the bullet and quit
. Remember me puffing through 60 a day back in Vegas? After a year-and-a-half ciggy-free, I feel much better off without them now. It's not about the money. It's not really about not having to deal with anti-smoking fanatics. The best thing is no longer being a slave to the bloody things!

And cue Britney! [}:)]
Though you do raise an interesting point that I hadn't thought of - how many people will avoid flying / certain airports? Mind you, if you can last 12 hours on a flight surely another few won't make that much of a difference?
Maybe Virgin could update the Snooze Pack to have a Smokers Pack ... complete with nicotine gum and patches.
Nicotine toothpaste and eyemask would be better. 2-in-1. Just think of the savings

Thanks

It is funny, once I am on the plane I have no cravings, but put me in one of those security lines from hell..meaning LAX/LHR/LGW or the B gates at LAS and I need a cigarette. In the states 1 in 7 people smoke..''cept in California where it is 1 in 8...now any other minority, especially in California, would be screaming about having part of there lives removed..or being singled out because of something specific to them.
Now all I am asking for is a nice room where all us smokers can enjoy a smoke...FFS SLC, home of the mormon church has a great set up..a state where you cannot buy an alcoholic drink still allows you to smoke in the airport.

That's coz all the Mormons want you to pop off this mortal coil quickly and go to heaven as soon as possible where they will prove to you that they were right all along! [:w]
Actually GJ is correct, while it may seem to some to be overly pc we must remember that every religion, sexual preference, race etc is more than welcome here and more than welcome to post their views, what to some of us may be a little fun, could by be found by others to be offensive.
