Hello, I am a new member and am travelling to St Lucia in two weeks on honeymoon. I will post a TR when i return and always read the reports with interest.
My question is I noticed that todays flight to St Lucia was delayed by 8 hours. Does anyone know why this was and are delays common on this route. I ask because i have booked a helicopter flight to the hotal the other end and they do not fly past a certain time, so if we are delayed we woulld miss this.
Can anyone help.
Also we have booked PE on our fist virgin flight. Reserved seats upstairs. What can we expect on the flight?
cheers

Can't answer directly but it looks like there's another thread here on this issue.

Good choice with the helicopter. St Lucia's road system and driving style isn't for the faint hearted.

Purely from a practical point of view it should be the new PE service (champagne / o.j. before take off, drinks runs, plated meals, fruit bowl) and either Nova / Odyssey entertainment systems. Though the latter aren't video on demand, it's a relatively short flight and the film selection is usually good.

From the point of view of atmosphere it's a great way to start a holiday. There's a feeling of exclusivity from the moment they say "you're upstairs today" to the point where you (should) be off the plane just after the 14 UCS passengers. It's not a big party route - save for others off to weddings or honeymoon - so there's a feeling of quiet calm.

Hi Robbie!

I and my family are off to St Lucia [8D] in the middle of next month and I'd love to know how you get on going through the new security checks at LGW. We'll be checking in the night before, using the Twilight checkin, so the only hassle on the day will be security. We are staying overnight at the LGW Hilton, (attached to Sth term). My wife and daughters have treatments booked up in the Clubhouse, so although I want to make sure we get there in enough time, on the other hand, we don't want to get up stupidly early, if we don't have to! Any feedback you can give would be very welcome. I'd also be interested to know whether Fast Track is still operational at LGW - I heard a rumour that BAA were doing away with it?

Good luck with the wedding! [y]

Regards

Fast track at LGW is still operational[y]

The Clubhose opens at 6.30 for seasoned visitors, you can never have enough time in the Clubhouse, my advice would be to check out of the Hilton in good time and enjoy the refreshments in the Clubhouse;)

Not sure if delays are common on this route, but I was on this flight recently (20th May) and we were wheels up within 15 minutes of the departure time on our boarding cards.

Hopefully you will not be delayed - the land transfer to the hotel was my least favourite part of the trip. I really wanted to do a heli transfer but we were traveling as part of a wedding group.

Have a great trip!
