Ok not technically "onboard", but...

I am flying to Dubai at the end of this month (so 9pm scheduled departure). Have talked husband into getting to LHR Terminal 3 for 6pm.

I am thinking about pre-booking a facial (so 30 minute treatment). If I did that, what time would you go for? Want to eat in the Clubhouse before boarding the flight too. What sort of time do you think they will call UC passengers for boarding?

Thanks,
Boo

They will call the flight about 40 minutes before departure in the Clubhouse, final call somewhere around 25-30 minutes before departure, and namecalls about 15-20 minutes before doors close.

Main meals usually take about 10-15 minutes to prepare, but often less.

I'd put the treatment time somewhere in the middle (e.g. 7pm-ish), then if you arrive early, you can eat first, and if you are little delayed, you won't miss your treatement, but can have that first, and then eat before you board.

I flew this route in May and was advised 7.15pm was the latest time for a "short" treatment e.g. Mens Shave. However, my girfriend was told 7.00pm was the latest for a blow dry which was of slightly longer duration.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Mike and Nick.

I might go for 6.45pm then - SHOULD get through check-in and security AND the rather long walk (I seem to recall) to the Clubhouse within 45 minutes. Should be out for 7.15pm - plenty of time to eat etc :)

No worries. Make sure you book now to ensure you get the timing you want.

Not sure if this is always the case, but when I booked recently, the treatments seemed to be 15/45 and haircuts 00/30 if that makes sense! I did the LHR-DXB route on 27th June and the flight was called around 815-820. Had a treatment at 630pm, which then meant plenty of time for drinks and dinner before boarding. Wouldn't leave it much later than 7 as if it is busy in the restaurant they might not serve you as they reckon the isn't always time before boarding is called. (PS you could always lie and say you are on the HKG/SYD flight to get served though!)

Thank you all very much - I have now successfully booked a facial for 6.45pm (before the 9pm DXB flight). Think that should work out well :)

And thanks gingerfly for your "Dubai-specific" advice and trip reports - very interesting, useful and enjoyable too.

Sorry to renew this older thread - but on the flipside to the Dubai flight we are flying to Miami which is a 9.40ish AM departure. What time does cowshed start the treatments in the morning?

Without being able to answer definitively, I would imagine it is when the Clubhouse opens. When I was there at the beginning of July my pre-booked appointment was for 8:00am and when I arrived at about 7:30 I could see someone in the hairdressing salon.

IIRC, the first treatment available at LHR is at 7am, and slightly earlier for Gatwick. We haven't booked our treatments for our flight to UVF in September, but thats a 9.15am departure so i think we'll be grabbing the earliest available treatments.

Thanks,
Sarah

I've managed to book in a facial for the lovely lady and a quick hair snip for myself, both at 7.30. The online request form starts at 6.00am
