... or two [}:)]

Thought that might make people take a look ;)

Anyway, recently there have been a few mentions of v-flyer mentioning that they're dropping status for one reason or another. Some due to slow down in the economy, some due to price increases, some due to preference of another carrier now, etc.

So, with that in mind, for those out there that are/were gold/silver who believe they'll lose (or have lost) that status this year. Out of interest, why?

Just trying to get a general "feeling" of those that have seen a reduced amount of VS travel this year. [:?]

As a silver at the moment, except for the 25% extra miles, there's no real benefit. I never travel in Economy if I'm doing long haul, so I don't go out of my way to make sure I keep my status. If another carrier is going where I want to go, then I will go with them. Getting to Toronto via Boston just reminded me why it's better to go direct.

Silver here still at the moment but will be going down to Red early next year by the looks of it.[:#]

Simple because money was a little too tight to get a D ticket this time round and K just doen't cut it on TP's.[n]

maybe next year when the lottery is good for me

Dropped from Au to Ag last September purely because a stateside project was a little late in starting. I had 24 of the required TPs but dropped.

Since February have accumulated 36 TPs and my flight next week to LA will regain me Au.

As a result of this I am even more miffed that I have had to endure 6 return flights with no CH access and have been pondering a topic about this very subject - how VS could be more flexible to ease the shock of tier dropping and maintain loyalty e.g. CH vouchers based on # of TPs in previous year.

Rather bizarrely, I'll actually be going up one next May. Pretty sure my elevation in status will be temporary and of little real use, but it'll be a thrill to brandish a gold bit of plastic for 12 months.

Snap - kinda - went up last month, :D and am working hard to book 3 u/c flights before next June, but with the sale prices, p/e looks inviting .....

Who knows if it will still be here this time next year, but will be fun trying.

Ditto - since my status rise will be mostly through UC flying. Vanity huh....[ii]

I will drop to Red soon, only becuase I now rarely fly to VS destinations. But that would change if VS put YYZ, YVR or YYC routes into action. Mind you I have an UC flight coming up to ANU but thats just becuase I need to go back there to collect my animals and bring them to Europe (and its a miles award) rather than there being brand loyalty.

If VS flew where I now need to go then I'd use them, but alas its Air Canada for me these days.

After a year almost devoid of VS flights last year, I have just re-earned my Ag wings, so I now have the choice of going for another year of Silver or biting the bullet and trying to get Au! Now where's that credit card?

Need 2 TPs before the end of September to retain Au - so it looks like a business BMI fare[:0]

Back in the early 90s there was a big slow down in the economy and airlines were falling over themselves to attract pax into the premium cabins - that is where Mrs Buns & I first got the taste of the Highlife (no clue as to the airline then[:w])

Dropped from silver to red in May. Missed renewing by a fraction (1 point) due to 1) bmi failing to credit a TP earning domestic flight and 2) my holiday dates (flying PE) being too late. I'm unlikely to requlalify again though as the BA Amex card just makes much more sense for a leisure flyer with a taste for J class (and even F)!!

Can a simple BMI full fare C flight accrue points? I thought it was just when using them to connect to VS flights?

;) Same here - a BA ORD-LHR upgrade to NCW was the start of this slippery slope...

C, D, J or Y (with Y being the Bmi premium economy offering)

i may drop to ag in january.

i have not bothered this year with traveling across the pond as frequently as i had done over the last 4 years, but rather staying at the beach over here for longer periods (6-months [8D]).

as an au card holder i have been surprised by some terrible treatment i received at lax (on 3 separate occasions over a 6-month period) by the vs ground crew, and then some appalling follow-up with mr. branson's office.

i have recently started booking z or d fares or g fares when available, so the au card is not as much use to me as it used to be when traveling on s fares.

i think i will have about 27 tier points at renewal next year.

life is great when you retire at 45. miles in my account mean more to me than tier point status...
