Hi,

I know this has already been posted on the site (as i have seen it!!) but can not find it now. - I did a search for varous things but to no avail.

How are the refits of the new W seats going on the LHR aircraft as flying to SFO at end of june and would be good to know if they will be the new seats.

Cheers

Hi This thread at the top of the General Discussions page has the info on which a/c have the new PE seats etc. Also if you check the FAQ's it states it in there.

The posts are updated as it is confirmed a re-fit has been done, so they should be up to date.

I have been updating that post as and when I get any new info on how the new PE re-fits are going.

The last update was in mid-April where I'd added the first A343 (G-VHOL) to the list.

If it helps, in future I'll include a date in the post when I update it.

I also update the FAQ section at the same time so the info there will always be in line with the sticky post.

Cheers James

Based on the threads then it looks as though none of the 744's have been done - bit of a shame oh well

Cheers again

You are correct, non of the 744's have been done yet, but this was always the case. The A346's were to be done first, to be finished by midway through 2007 and then the rest of the LHR fleet to be done by the end of the year, LGW/MAN to follow next year.

It seems so slow, particularly when you are going to fly from Manchester!!

So the 744's should be upgraded between mid-2007 and the end of 2007? I was hoping to sample the new product this year, but the chances of getting a 346 on the LHR-EWR route is pretty slim for mid-July when I'll be flying...

Mike - if you use the VS17 for your EWR flights then you are likely to get the new PE seats/service as these flights are scheduled to be operated by an A346 during July. If you use the VS1 then you are more than likely going to get a 744 which I doubt will have had the new PE seats fitted, but should still offer the other aspects of the new PE service.

Unfortunately it's not possible for me to get to EWR for the morning flight (it's a three hour drive from my house to EWR), and going down the night before isn't an option either.

On a side note, how is the revised PE service, aside from the seats? I'd heard rumors of upgraded food and other changes...

I've been absent from this forum for a while and am no longer current on what is being offered [:I]

The other changes include, like you say, a new food service, served on china, menu's handed out with food options on them, a dedicated PE crew member, new Amenity kit and a supposedly dedicated toilet.

There are quite a few threads around that have discussed the new PE service.

Well I've taken the plunge and booked it; VS2/1 on the 14Jul/25Jul. This will actually be my first vacation and trip to the UK in almost 2 years, which is a little strange seeing how I used to go over every 6 months or so. I couldn't make the early morning flights work, so I booked 2/1. I'm anxious to see the new PE service, minus the seats of course (unless there's a last minute aircraft change).

Well my trip is only a few days away now... I see that G-VEIL, G-VFIZ, and G-VRED have all made the trip in recent weeks, so maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a 346 swap and the new seats in one direction... I'd miss the upper deck, but wouldn't mind seeing the new seat at least one way...

I'm just reserving my seats for my SFO trip at the end of November (PE out & UC back)
Got a couple of questions on the refits:
1) Now the A346's have been done any ideas when they are going to start the 747's?
2) Are they just going to replace the W seats or are they going for a complete refit as shown on the VS web site (747-400 seating configuration 4)

Be nice to have the new seats, although I'm not too sure about the new PE layout.

As far as we are aware there will be a total re-fit on the LHR 744s. Moving all of W downstairs to the 3 doors and J being extended on the upper deck. No word recently but think this is still the plan! There are only 5 744s at LHR now so hopefully it wont take too long to be completed!

Now that all of the Airbuses have been completed with the seats how long before the first jumbo goes in?

Darn....my flight to JNB in Dec has just been changed to a 744. I can't decide which I would prefer - a seat in the Upper Deck or the new seats downstairs.

Seat on the Upper Deck - I am gutted that they are changing the config and moving all PE downstairs, the PE Upper Deck is fab, especially on a night flight.

Are there any seat maps for the new layout? Does PremEcon at least get their own loo's when it moves downstairs?
