LHR flights, upper or lower deck?

I have used the seat rating page on here for our Orlando flights which is great, but have been trying to decide on which deck to choose for our UC return from LA. I still can't decide which would be the best, but I am warming to the downstairs nose at the front, where we are for our Orlando flights. What are your opinions? Seems it may be quieter upstairs, but more negatives about the suites.

An extra question. How do you get a IFBT treatment? We travelled from Manchester before and it isn't an option from there of course!!!:D

If planning to sleep, and not be disturbed by a) the bar and b) the IFBT doing treatments, then upstairs.

If you want a bit more in the way of "immediate" and attentive service, I'd suggest downstairs.

The IFBT will introduce themselves after you board the aircraft, and offer treatments. They'll also make it clear, however, (unlike VS' marketing material [ii]) that it's a random selection process and therefore not guaranteed)

Erm, I think the flights to LAX are currently serviced by the A346s so you might find it a bit draughty on the upper deck [:w]

[:0]Well, I'll be safe and choose downstairs then!! We aren't going till next May though.

Flying UC Man to MCO, cruising through the Panama Canal, and then flying back from LA!!(??th birthday trip):D

Actually for next May the VS7/8 is showing as a 747 but the 23/24 is till a 346

I'd say sit on the main deck.

Upstairs feels very isolated and it's gets very warm up there too. Also the suites are narrower with the smaller arm rests and smaller over-head bins.

The other thing to bear in mind though is by next May, some (if not all) of the LHR B744's will be re-configured to have UCS on the entire upper deck, though it's likley the suites up their will all be the same narrower versions (same as the suites on the Airbus A/C) and will still have the smaller over-head bins. Hopefully though you shouldn't feel quite as isolated.
