They always say stuff like this when pay talks are going on. Also I was talking to a VK manager and he told me that VK are making money and that VS are getting a good profit from them. Its all being put elsewhere.

It may be making an operating profit, albeit that start-up costs amortized over a number of years will then take it below the water line.
On the general profit level - we simply do not know what the full picture might look like, for example how much did VS pay to other Branson companies for licensing the brand, management fees etc. and how much might those other (offshore companies) have made ...

Absolutely - 10% uplift in customers and that 'dive' in profits? The Virgin group (and I should say myriad group) are setup to look after one individual and no more - he has no shareholders to worry about so can do that kind of money shift. I can only imagine what 'appearance' fees he is paid, and then licence fees to use the Virgin name and logo.

30K for a Virgin Mobile appearnce if my memory serves me correctly.
There was an article not so long ago in the papers about this.
Not too worry, they'll be charging a credit card booking supplement per passenger before you know it to help reap in a few extra million....
