Folks

I am assuming that, with a self-printed bar coded OLCI boarding card and no baggage to check, nowadays I can head straight to the CH? Destination is Tokyo.

The e-mail I just received is still asking me to attend the check-in area.

They will probably still want to perform a doc check, which as we all know is done by a G4S person at LHR, and not a Virgin rep, and these people hang out in the check-in area, and not the CH.

I'd just go to UC or DIY check-in, which ever is the quieter, and see the G4S doc screener, explaining you've no checked bags, and then head off to the CH.

Last VS flights I did, at the gate as well as checking the boarding pass name matches the photo ID, they also looked on the back of your passport for the VS security sticker with the current date on.

Anyone any idea what happens if you were to go straight to the gate without the sticker on your passport as you'd done OLCI, printed your own boarding pass & have no hold baggage? Do they ask the questions there when you are about to board? [potential for delay to the flight if they are unhappy with any of your answers].

Thanks
James

Depends if they have a document screener present at the gate? I know there are (usually sourpuss) employees from G4S herding the queue, but I don't know if they are drawn from the same corps as the document checkers.

I guess they have to be able to cope with you changing from a connecting flight. Come to think of it, when I connected from AMS through LHR onto the VS19, I don't recall getting stickered or asked questions anywhere along the line by a VS employed document checker.

I've seen it before at MIA, where they have run out of stickers at check-in, and just performed the passport check and attached stickers at the gate instead.

I think as long as your passport has been checked before your board the aircraft, it doesn't matter where the actual check occurs. Several VS out-stations still dont give you a sticker anyway.

Turns out I could just sail right through to security. Amazing, only four folks in front of me this morning in the line here at T3. Managed to avoid eye contact with the shoe police.

I still feel terribly rough after an impromptu night out with Decker, despite just necking a full monty in the CH.

Hot tub is out of action again :-(

Oooh just been called to the spa.
