We have only been in downstairs UC suites(Man-MCO), so it would be good to see a picture of upstairs to compare. As yet I still have the choice of upstairs or in the nose for our flight.

But hang on! Isn't the new config for LHR 747s? In which case the MAN/LGW should stay as at present (at least for the time being) :D

Will upstairs still be snooze zone on night-flights (assuming it is at the moment - I haven't travelled upper deck UCS)?

I would imagine VS will continue the policy of the upper deck J cabin being the designated "snooze zone" on east coast, east bound flights as now. In practice it seems to be encouraged on west bound too and most who wish to sleep with fewer chances for interruption seem to prefer the upper deck.

That is a lot of J seats, they must think they can fill them. Might mean easier mileage availability into G (then again, even with the old config last night all got all the G's I wanted for a flight next week).

That PE cabin does look VERY big and cramped on the seat map, bigger even than on the 346's. And as Bazz said, all over the wing. Not great for PE, the rarefied surrounding of the bubble were a big bonus for PE fares.

cheers!

Hi,

I'm travelling in UC seat 9A for my LHR-SFO flight on the 2nd Jan 08. Any ideas if this will be the 744 config 1,2,3 or 4? Also i believe the new config has 9A as a Upper deck seat.. I prefer to be on the maindeck if possible :)

Cheers.

I'm flying SFO - LHR at the end of September, maybe I'll be on the new config, if so I'll try and get DW to take pictures.

Obviously I cant comment too much on what I know about this re config, yet I can say that the first refit is starting any day. and all LHR B747 should be done by the end of the year if not earlier.

So it has been noted that PE will now only be downstairs on the Main Deck.. yet the other good news is that it will have the new superseat so will have more comfort and a wider seat than most of the competitors Business seats !

The crew ratios are being considered to ensure that service levels are maintained in both cabins to that experienced at present.

Im sure you will all hear more in the comming days..

I was wondering this as well. I know they are being refitted during early 2008 but are they changing the configuration?

Ive no idea whats happening to those aircraft? I would imagine that there would still be PE on the upper deck as I dont think there is enough demand for all UC on the upper deck as at LHR. also whichever class is on the upper deck also needs to be offered on the main deck in line with the Disability access rules (or whatever they call it)

maybe its a change of seats to improve the IFE system ?

Hi All,

Can someone help me decide which seat is best between 15A and 16A in Upper Class ?:) This is on the 744 config 4 from LHR-SFO.

I am travelling alone and want to be not too close/far from the bar, galley, toilets :) I'm asking too much arent i :)

Cheers,
K.

On the current configuration I would go for 16A - just my preference - although my overall preference is for 16K

Hi,

Thanks for that. I think i will go for 16A then :)

I have no idea why but i like the left hand side of the plane!

What are the advantages of 16K over 16A?

Cheers,
Kenn.

:)

Guess what 16K is already taken on that flight! I did it online via the VS website. Oh well luckily 16A is available and i have snapped that up.

Now on the A346 for my NRT-LHR flight i selected 8A, good choice?

Cheers,
Kenn.

Close to the bassinet which is in the middle (potential disruption / noise if a baby is on board). 3-5k or 11-14A may be wiser?

Currently got 10K (New Configuration) for my trip to SFO. Been trying to work out if it has a window, anyone got any idea?
Having doubts based on:
1) It would have originally been where the toilet was.
2) It is opposite the stairs and there are no windows on that side of the aircraft (top of stairs)
3) Looking at pictures of 747's I can only count 8 windows in the rear section of the upper deck.

Think I might have to move downstairs but there is limited availability so I'll have to move quick.
