All I can say is, I really, really, really, really, really hope they ARE innocent.

was thinking the same thing. After all that has happened it would be horrible to find out they are guilty and I really hope they are innocent. Must be horrible to be in that situation though so good on Richard for supporting them.

In this situation, other than when a person admits their guilt, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

That is, found to be guilty by 12 of their peers, not the media. (Though it may be a slightly different system in Portugal :D ).

I do not know enough about the facts to speculate what may have happened to the poor young girl, but - like everyone else - I am very keen to learn the truth.

I think I read somewhere that none of the celebs (including Ricky) is allowing their donations to be used for legal defence, purely because that would cause them problems?

Regardless - it's unthinkable they they're culpable of being involved in their daughter's disappearance, but I guess it does happen. Assuming they are innocent though, it's impossible to imagine how they are feeling, not only has their little girl disappeared, but then they're suspected of the crime.

I wonder if it occurs to anyone else, as it does to me, to wonder if the 'interest' the Portuguese police have shown in them is an way some kind of retaliation for them suing one of the tabloids out there?

It is very generous of him of make the donation, being a little cynical, I am sure the publicity will do him and consequentially Virgin, no harm.

I too hope they are innocent, it would be very upsetting to learn they were complicit in her disappearance. I guess the way the case seems to be progressing that the best way for their innocence to be proven is for Madeleine to be found alive, which, I guess, is what we all want.

Being the cynic that I can occasionally be [}:)]

I cant help thinking that this is nothing more than UKP 100,000 of cheap publicity for SRB.

Whilst I would not want the parents to be subject to anything other than a fair investigation ... ask yourself the question would he have donated had it not been front page news ?? I think not !

There are many other people out there who deserve a 'legal leg up', but because they are not front page news dont get a single 1p from the likes of SRB.

Just my 2c worth
