Hi,

Re flying from BOM to LHR, does anyone know why in UC, VS only allow a max of 30kg checked luggage whereas BA allows J pax to have 69kg.

Would prefer VS but the allowance is the killer issue!

Cheers,

Sahajesh.

True but the same allowance applies for pretty much any location that comes under the weight system (as opposed to piece) - even Emirates are the same.

Oh well, BA it is!

Thanks Decker,

It'd take someone a bit geekier than I to analyse the planes that fly the "weight" routes but my suspicion would be that these routes map on to cargo optimised planes. Also I'm sure airlines would PREFER all routes to be weight based (less fuel = cheaper costs) but where the piece system is established they'd have to form a cartel to suddenly all swap over to the weight system. And that is unlikely to happen... *cough* *cough*

Ha ha very true - take a brave/foolish airline to switch to the weight method for US routes :) (even if they were allowed to).

Calling all geeks, is a VS 343 BOM-LHR more likely to be a cargo carrier than a BA 744 on the same route? [?]
