Quick question for those of you on the UK side of the pond.

My aunt has bought a ticket with VS to come back to the US with us for a week. I don't know much information other than that she booked it with "a travel agent".

Now I want to call VS and inform them that she's traveling as part of our group, so I sent her an email to get her confirmation number and she said she doesn't have her ticket yet. Something about her travel agent telling her that she isn't traveling yet.

My question is weather VS issues paper tickets still? I thought the big push was for electronic ticketing and that like other airlines (ala DL) you had to specifically request a paper ticket if you wanted one--or do travel agents in the UK still issue paper tickets, and this is a case of them waiting to issue it until closer to the date?

Any thoughts?

Just to clarify she isn't traveling until the 2nd week of august, as she's returning with us...

Certain flights I've had were on paper tickets, e.g. an AMS-LHR-SFO and vv was on paper flight coupons.

Also, if I've bought a ticket for my girlfriend or someone else (e.g. a colleague) which isn't on the same PNR as me, that is usually issued as a paper ticket too.

If it's a ticket that she's got from a consolidator (e.g. Flight Centre), that may well be on paper, and might explain why VS can't see it yet (I'm assuming you called and got "No-one of that name on the flight"?). As you probably know, consolidators often don't submit pax names to the airline until they generate the tickets.

I haven't tried to ring VS yet, simply because she doesn't know her confirmation number, although I guess a call with a name check wouldn't hurt...

Also, it's all VS travel... LHR-EWR-LHR...

All UK Virgin Holiday bookings using VS flights are still issued on paper tickets.

I had a paper ticket on my last VS flight, booked through a TA. My understanding was that it was due to an issue with my name (TA misspelled it) as my husband, part of the same group, had an e-ticket.

Also, I was able to get a confirmation number early in the process, but when I called VS to ask why I couldn't pull up my reservation on-line I was told the TA had not "issued the tickets" yet. However, I was able to get seat assignments over the phone at that point in time.

Alright, thanks everyone... I think I'll phone up VS tonight or just ask them to look into it when we checkin on Saturday...
