Looks like former VS A340 G-VSKY "China Girl", which left the fleet in about 2003 for BWIA, has the honor of becoming the first ever A340 to be scrapped. Rather surprising considering she is less than 15 years old.

That is surprising; I guess BWIA?Caribbean must have needed to sell due to financial trouble/over capacity and couldn't find a buyer.

I had always quite liked SKY due to my always good experiences on the a/c (although obviously that has nothing to do with the metal) but towards the end of its time with VS, it did have some tech trouble IIRC.

BWIA only leased the aircraft, under their new name they have dropped long haul. I read the airliners.net discussion & it doesn't appear certain that it is to be scrapped. VS could probably make better use of it if the price was right!!!!!
