Afternoon all.

Have just booked up a trip to JFK on Jan 3rd for a spot of new year shopping and snow ball fighting with the girlfriend...

The flights as they stand are :

Out from LHR - A346 - ECON
Back from JFK - 744 - PREM ECON

So my thoughts are, which seats are the best window seats in ECON on the A346 (and maybe even the best side to sit on arrival into JFK??) - and which Prem ECON seat would you chose on the 744 (new config 4 version by then)?

I have looked at seatguru and the like but they don't really cater for the ECON traveller like my goodself - so wondered if anyone could advise me or give me a hint or two? - Some seats have already gone when trying to save/book them online, but thats just (bad) timing on my behalf!

So thats preferred choice Economy seat on the A346 out, and the preferred choice Prem Economy seat (downstairs?) on the new config 4 version back into LHR.

Any ideas greatly appreciated! [^] - I thank you....

Even those of us who fly in economy are catered for. :D

Thanks - I have already seen that page as well - but just wanted other peoples ideas that might not have posted on that site as they're only 4 ECON seats commented on the 346 !

Any good seats / bad seats / good leg room etc in "cattle class" ?

[:p]

Cheers.

Back from JFK - 744 - PREM ECON

It's a bit difficult to give advice on the return journey as the 747 fleet will have undergone a refit.
I've opted for 31k on my outbound trip to SFO in November, it's towards the front and by the window.

For the out-bound econ. flight avoid the bulk head rows as these seats are narrower due to the table being in the arm rest and often the IFE screens are broken. In fact the last few econ. flights I've done on A346's most of the bulk head rows where blocked due to the broken screens. The seats belts also have airbags built in to them on all bulk head & exit rows on the A346's making them a bit uncomfortable.

Also avoid rows 43 - 46 as this area feels very enclosed as you have the crew rest bulk head in front with the water fountains area behind you and washrooms on either side of the cabin so it gets quite conjested as well.

There is one row in Y which is the over-wing exit row so offers more legroom right across the cabin - these are probably your best bet (although I'm not 100% sure which row this is now as it's not marked on either our or the VS seat maps, but I think it's around row 33-34 which you wont be able to select online as rows 31-36 are always blocked until online check-in opens and even then you will have to ask for that row at check-in with it been an exit row). Bear in mind though that you will probably have to pay extra for any of the exit rows at check-in.

Some of the crew on here will have a better idea which row this over-wing exit is I'm sure.

I've gone for 61H/K on the way out on the A346 and am still to even see a seating plan let alone book the seats for the return leg on the new refit of PE.
