Hi

Arrived at MCO last night for VS74 20:55 MCO - MAN Checked in etc. Arrived at gate 81 around 20:00 about 20:30 no one had boarded and a lot of activity at the gate desk.

Eventually a duty manager arrived to say that there was a problem with the aircraft - Ruby Tuesday (seems to be a problem with one of the engines as it was being run up a couple of times) and that a new departure time of 00:30 was the likely departure time. Vouchers to the value of $10 issued to use at 3 of the eateries in the terminal

Around 22:10 he came back to say that hey were hopefully going o start boarding shortly, obviously to some sighs of relief !! He then came back to say the captain wanted us onboard but the engineer thought it not a good idea [:?]

Later a member of the cast of "Corrie" who had been boarded into UC much earlier came off the plane with a staff member, thought that maybe they were takng him back to the Delta lounge !!

Then at about 23:00 the call came hat the flight was having to be cancelled and everyone had to make their way back to the checkin desk for hotel accomodation. All luggage was to be kept onboard so later today there will be a few polecats sat down[:0]

A virtual race back to the desk took place. Fortunately as we're in PE the queue wasn't too bad and so we are now in the Hyatt at the airport waiting for info sometime later today.

The MCO airport online departure system shows a time of 17:55 we wait in hope.[:?]

Anyone any idea if VS will compensate for the delay ?

Regards

ISTBC but if it is mechanical then compensation is mandatory.

We got 37,500 miles compensation when our flight was cancelled earlier in the year, we were also flying in PE, think UC got 50k and Econ 25K.

Oh great, so if my flight to MCO gets off the ground (re. the possible strike), I then might get stuck anyway because the plane has a 'problem'.

Hi

Just an update on the MCO situation.

Back home [|)]

Good nights stay in the Hyatt with a breakfast voucher, so we only had a 5 minute walk and checked in by 23:30 and in the bar for midnight [:0] had to ask to be supplied with ammenities, toothbrush etc etc.and check out of room at noon.

Some families were bussed to other hotels near to the Florida Mall and didn't get into their rooms untill 3am

We were then advised to go to check in to collect meal vouchers to the value of $15 per person.

As we had our boarding cards from the previous day just went through security to the gate. Plane departed at the secheduled retiming of 17:55.

Everyone was handed a letter at the gate, and as we were in PE are to be rewarded with 37500 miles each. Not much if you're not in the flying club !!! But the crew were pushing the option to join.

Captain came on after everyone was on board and gave a very apologetic message advising us that they thought they had cured the fault initially, but when they ran the engine up another fault appeared which required a replacement component to be loaned from another airline in MIA. Which, when Ruby returned to London later this morning would be taken off and sent back to MIA ASAP.

Regards

Thanks for the update, Paul.

It can never be pleasant to be caught up in a situation like this. I am glad the Captain took the engineer's advice, and didn't fly. Better safe than sorry.

The 37.5K points given to you is enough to book half a MAN-MCO PE return. [?][:?]
