Checked in at 06:45 for the 08:05 flight in terminal 2. Business class check in was empty so on through to departures in under 3 minutes with only hand luggage. Settled in the Lufthansa business lounge which was empty but very hot, even at that time in the morning.
Called for boarding at 07:45 and onto the Airbus A321. Aircraft had a nice feel to it compared to the LH 737 I flew out on earlier this month. Seats far more comfortable and cabin seemed much better designed. Only thing I find strange is the very discernable change in noise from the engines as they accelerate and decelerate whilst airborne
Wheels up bang on time and flight was due to be 1hr 15 mins. Quick snack served shortly after take off and by the time I'd read the newspapers we were descending into Dusseldorf.
The match itself was in Dortmund but we had the use of a chauffeur driven vehicle to transfer us to the hotel in Hagen, then onto Dortmund in the afternoon.
Found a nice cafe / restaurant in the centre of Dortmund and whiled away the afternoon eating drinking and watching the huge crowds pass by in 32 degree temperatures.
Finally onto the stadium and what a stadium!! It was HUGE and the atmosphere very friendly between all sets of fans. Italy went through with two late goals just when it looked like going to penalties.
Back late to the hotel and spent the next day just chilling out and enjoying another long lunch before setting off for the 16:40 flight back from Dusseldorf
I can think of worse ways to spend the working week [;)]
