...in the fora of the night, what immortal hand or eye could answer my question about reward travel refunds?

DISCLAIMER: I did five searches for various iterations of 'reward travel refunds' so please flame me in a PM, not here, if this is a repeat post on the order of 'are ninja suits washed.'

Here's the dealio...

I was given a new assignment at work that requires me to fly to Burbank (BUR) from SEA every Monday morning, returning every Thursday evening. This means that my treasured July 1 - 5 in Positano this year will not happen. Dammit.

It also means that I seem to be looking at a 25% bite out of the miles returned to me when I cancel my miles-funded booking.

Are there any strategies for avoiding this bite? Would LRoM perhaps consider the provision of USD1000 for taking my case up the ladder at Crawley? [:#]

Anyway, I look forward to your responses and please, for the love of Christ, pray for me on my weekly slog to LA and the 12+ hour workdays that await me in the months ahead.

how long ago did you book your ticket? remember reward tickets are valid for 12 months from date of issue, and can be amended for a small fee (subject to availability of course!)

I also seem to remember reading that the 25% deduction can (and is often) waived for Gold members. Surely the Red appellation you wear in this forum is purely to fox the proletariat?

I think trying to change the dates is probably the best option... I think it is £25 per ticket. You can always change them again later.

Pay the change fee. It's easier than eating the miles.

Burbank? Gawd, I hope you're not working for a studio! If you are, I feel for you. I escaped that...

What's worse than being a medical mess? Being on strike for most of it (so having the time to travel) and not being able to fly... grr..... quitcherwhinin' about your flights...

Just pay the change fee and move the flights out, again depending on space, however of course if all you are doing is protecting the miles the it should not be an issue.
