Can I upgrade from this ticket type?

Hi,

Appologies for yet another upgrade topic!

A while ago I booked tickets for me and my friend to Miami, on 6th Sept returning 18th Sept. X class ticket paid around 480 per ticket.

Since then i've been thinking about upgrading the outbound journey to PE. That price currently comes up on VA website at 737 per ticket.

Firstly, I would like to ask if I call VA will I be able to upgrade?
Secondly, If I can upgrade do you guy's think the 9 1/2 hours in PE is worth the extra cash?

I've flown PE before. That was upstairs in the bubble, fab experience! From the seat map on VA website it looks like i would be downstairs. Whats the chance I could get a window seat? Is PE generally very busy for this route?

I know I should have just considered all this earlier but was in economy drive mood when booked. Now the flights getting closer i'm getting more tempted!!

You'll need to call Flying Club and ask them how much it would cost you to upgrade. I am assuming the price you are looking at on the website is if you upgraded at the time of purchase?

Is it worth it? Well, it depends how much they quote you. PE would definitely be worthwhile for a 9.5 hour flight, but only you can say whether the price quoted to you reflects value.

Dont worry about seating too much. A number of seats are only available to be allocated at check-in so you can still probably grab a seat upstairs.

I think its all upper class upstairs from the seat map on the website, 747-400 Config 4 I think.

Yes I think your right I should call and get definite price first. Certainly got some thinking to do!

Ah yes, LHR 744's have PE all downstairs. While the magic has been lost from the bubble, i dare say that it will still be a lot better in PE than in Economy if the price is right.

Call VS and see what they are quoting you for an upgrade.

Its an extra £710 to upgrade it's a bit steep for me. Worth the try though and thanks Highflyer for your help

No worries. Try asking on the day and see what the price is like. It may be a heck of a lot more, but if they are looking to shift people as its a busy flight you might get a good deal. Never hurts to ask.
