Hi All

Just watched dispatches on Ch4 about BA. I understood the reporter to say that the BA/AA merger of routes has been given the go ahead! Anyone know for sure if this is true?
I bet Mr.Branson was pleased with the programme in some respects, showed BA in very poor light, but also mentioned Virgin regarding the fuel surcharges.
Good luck for the future VS, keep up the good work!

I do not think that this merger has been given the go ahead by the regulatory authorities-YET. The documentary although without doubt factual, could have been made about any airline in the world including VS. I actually feel for BA and the damage that could be done to the business by nothing less than sensationalist reporting.

The beardy one will be rubbing his hands in glee, as this report will undoubtedly have the same effect as the T5 fiasco, more business for Virgin Atlantic!

If it has been given approval then it certainly sneaked past everyone! I think it is more a case of simplifying the facts to make them sound more in keeping with the programme!

I must say while I much prefer Virgin to BA, it seemed very much twisting and picking the stats to suit the programme and the aim to dis BA! As someone who was caught up in the T5 mess and without bags for 3 weeks I am certainly not singing BA's praises! That said I thought it was very unfair boarding on scandalous some of the things said! Everyone knows T5 was a complete mess for quite a while but truth is on the whole it seems to work well now! But I guess in this country we need to dis ourselves some more and twists the facts to make a TV show! Yes BA's lost luggage figures are going to be higher than anyone elses after T5 opening, but they didnt mention anything about the last 3 months!
While I doubt it will do Virgin any harm the truth is it is more likely to benifit other carriers as Virgin only fly to a fraction of BA's destinations, so we have probably helped many other counties airlines out more than our own! When I compare BA to almost any of the American International airlines I would still choose BA from my experience, although obviously fly Virgin when possible!

Hopefully people will see it for what it was a programme based soley on hyped up and twisted facts! It just happened to be BA they picked on, truth is it really could have been Virgin or any other airline for that matter!

Well thats my thoughts anyway!

Well said[y]
Apart from the T5 mess, it could have really been about any airline that operates to the scale that BA does, despite the program i will still use BA for all my european flights as i have never had anything but excellent service[^].

cheers
