I have just tried it for my bookings and it was not working for me either.

I did OLCI at 10:30am today & the VS website was running *very* slow then. A friend managed to do OLCI about an hour later (after many attempts). Two other friends have not been able to do OLCI all afternoon.

You can't even get current flight times/status off the VS website either. Seems that if the VS website needs info from the live booking/operations system, then the page is not working.

Looks like it's down again. I was getting the 'facility is currently disabled' message this morning but now it lets you enter your PNR, but then nothing happens.

Hello. Apologies in advance for this being so long winded.

Have booked PE on VS051 Gatwick to Grenada in March, returning a fortnight later. Organised via Virgin Holidays. In August I got on to the Virgin Atlantic site to 'reserve' seats in the bubble for both journeys. All was OK.

When I check the 'manage your flights ' section now I am getting the following 'We're sorry. The seat map is not available at this time. Your seats will be assigned at check in' for the outbound flight. The seats on the return journey remain as reserved.

I asked both Atlantic and Holidays what had happened bearing in mind that the normal planes used on the route both have the same seat configuration. Atlantic initially e-mailed that it was a computer glitch, then later a different customer service person e-mailed that it wasn't and that it was up to Holidays to tell me about any changes to the booking as Holidays 'owned' it. Holidays said they hadn't a clue what that meant!

Atlantic also said 'We have recently made amendments to our seat maps, which has meant that certain seat numbers are no longer available to pre-assign to anyone and will only be available on the day of departure upon check in at the airport. As a result passengers already assigned these seats have had to be moved to alternative seats. (I HAVEN'T)

We understand and appreciate that you may have pre-assigned these seats some time in advance and apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience caused. We always try and accommodate a request but can never guarantee them due to many factors including aircraft and operational requirements.

It is not possible for us to contact passengers when pre-assigned seats are changed, as they can happen at anytime including right up to departure. When it is necessary for us to change a passenger's seat number, we endeavour to assign a seat of similar position, although it is not always possible to do that' (NOT HAPPENED TO ME)

Has anyone any idea what is going on? It is now impossible to 'reserve' any seats in PE on the outward journey..is this usual? I booked so early I think it highly unlikely anyone else would have precedence over me and I have not been offered any alternative seats.

Interestingly and confusingly, according to Holidays computer my outbound seat reservations remain as 'reserved', which is also what Atlantic told me initially.

And finally...once logged on to the 'amend your booking' area there is a description of Cabin....it says next to it ..'Premium Economy lowest'.

Any ideas what that means?

Thank You

Given that there is already a current thread about the current problems with the booking management issues on the VS websites, I have merged the two topics.

Welcome to V-Flyer HWVlover. It has been pointed out many, many times in the past that seat requests are just that, not seat reservations, but this whole issue and the current problems with the website are doing VS no favours at all IMHO.

Hi Nick,

Thank you.

I realise, of course, that a request is not a reservation but am just surprised how I am being messed around even three months before the flight, without any real explanation. Maybe it is just the computer as VH and VA (originally) said. I will make sure I check in early, however!

Any ideas on the cabin description?

Also when you get the message saying the seat map is not available it is probably because the 60% of seats available for pre-allocation have been filled.

If you go to the Manage my Booking page and click on the arrow next to your name it should show your seat requests.

Thank you. It does indeed, my requests are still there hooray, probably best that I do NOT tell customer services!! I guess I could not access the seat plan as there was nowhere else to change to if pre-allocation allotment was used up...I wonder why they couldn't have told me?
