Best to arrive at JFK on a Monday?

Hello all,

I just wondered when people prefer arriving at JFK? I'm booking a flight for the 4th May (a Monday) from LHR and wondered what people's experiences were? I seem to recall the morning flight (VS003) was quite busy but didn't know what the later flights are like?

I'll be flying on a reward flight in ECON.

My last visit a few weeks ago was on a Thur, and it was the quickest I've ever made it through the airport. I wouldn't base my flight on an estimated arrival time, there are so many factors that could influence the queues it's not worth trying to second guess them.

I pick my flights based on the type of plane and the time it leaves and my ability to get to the airport for that time.

I've frequently taken the VS3 on a Monday and in my experience it's the busiest - although the VS1 on a Sunday to EWR matches it - both minimize the time away from home on business.

Similarly, Friday night returns ...

There used to be a truism in travel that Tuesday and Thursday were quietest.

My flight from LHR to JFK was on a Thurs at 1400 and arrived at JFK in the evening. Very little queue at immigration and went through in less then 10 mins.

Flew LHR-JFK last Thursday on VS3 and was picking my bags off the carousel within 15 minutes of leaving the aircraft.

Decided to go with VS45 as it arrives at 1600 which means my friend will be home to let me in!! Other than that it was a toss up between a 474 or an A340. I think that the flight will be a 747 - which is ok as long I can get some extra leg room!!
