When I flew home from GSO (in North Carolina) on DL not only had they checked my bags all the way home to ORK but they had also checked me in for the VS flight. When we got to JFK I went to the check-in desk a) to get a purple boarding card and b) because my seat assignments were wrong. At the security point the girl told me when I explained that I was already checked in, that I would have had to come to the security point anyhow. I was re-issued with the correct seats, the purple boarding card and the invite.
I suppose it's the same for when you use OLCI - you still go to a desk for security and whatever...
