Given this date appears to be good for a lot of folk, I'm starting a new topic to act as the catchall for the various nuggets of info regarding the event.

I'll edit this topic as plans & people change, but for the time being the basic overview looks like this;

Afternoon: Pub meeting The Pheasant map
Early evening: Bowling at the Airport Bowlennium, Bath Rd, Hayes, Middlesex, UB3 5AL
Evening meal: back at Pheasant, since the guv'nor is a VS fan himself. Richard will be dispatched to barter sleep suits for beer...

During the afternoon, there'll be goodie bags & raffle prizes kindly donated by Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Travelstore (Shaun - there's a promise for you to live up to now) & the vast treasure chest of the Mannion Estate. I'll be throwing in an exclusive V-Flyer Gold luggage tag for all attendees to adore (and no doubt lose the first time it goes through LHR baggage handling...)

Pictures & details of the venues have been posted by Decker on page 3 of this thread.

For those staying overnight, the Ibis next to the Bowling Alley offers £45 per night rooms. Alternatively, if you're a Points Whore, (like Nick), Slough/Windsor Courtyard is about £49 per night (although someone ought to tell Nick Slough/Windsor is a fair distance from Heathrow, despite what the glossy literature says!)

The provisional attendee list at the moment is;

pixuk
Nottingham Nick (& Bro - Derby Dave)
mcuth
Decker (& possibly Mrs D)
buns4vs
RichardMannion
onionz
Buffers (afternoon only)
chefknife
PaulS (& possibly Mrs S)
BlackCat (& Kitten) (afternoon only - however might be in Glasgow)
ghagger
arfortune (bowling certainly, maybe the rest too)
pegitt
cosmokid
Ian
Jonathan

If you can make it, add your name to this thread.;)

Just to add - we're thinking of a raffle/auction/giveaway of various VS stuff. I'm moving house and have far too much VS stuff at my house, so I will be bringing a collection along with me just like the FT do earlier int he year where people were fighting over VS Sleepsuits....

So if you do have any spare or unwanted Amenity Kits, sleepsuits, VS trinkets then please brign them along as I am sure there will be some willing swaps/recipients!

Oh and Pix -can I please have the haul of my own luggage tags back.... :)

Thanks,
Richard

I have stack loads of W and J luggage labels, Pix can autograph them up for you personally....:)

on the 12th.

Just spoken to the Bowling Alley, and looks good for the 12th.

We can have up to 6 people per lane, and they charge £28 per lane for the first hour, £23 for subsequent hours. That includes shoe hire. Mcuth - you'll be pleased to know there's a bar in there too, so no interruption to your drinking required.

I will need to book at some point, and I'll have to put a deposit down on the number of lanes we need, so if you're thinking of joining us please do reply to this topic.

Also spoke to VS this morning and they're looking at what they can do for items in the goodie bags, as well as joining us on the day ;)

Not yet got any further on the choice of pub or curry house yet - anyone been to any of those on the Bath Road north of LHR? I've been to plenty on the south side (since I was born on that side of the airport); but it was a bit like living North/South of the River in London - you never ventured to 'the other side' socially...

The Cat will be there in the afternoon, with maybe the Kitten in tow. Can't do the evening unfortunately [:(].

Pix

So, if we booked:
1hr = £4.66 each for 6 people
2hrs = £8.50 each for 6 people

2hrs sounds reasonable to me - especially with unlimited games :) Everyone else?

Glad to hear there's a bar (and I like how it's no interruption to my drinking [:p])

Great news on possible VS representation/goodies - this is going to be a cracking do! :)

Can't help on the bars/curry houses I'm afraid - I've never been drinking down that way before :D

Cheers

You didn't get any names? Too busy concentrating on something else were you?

Pix - kick him off the Mod team please.... :)

SYD by Sept sounds a bit optimistic, but would be great if it is - planning my Escapade for Nov to use up a month of holiday I have left lingering.

DXB would be cool for Christmas shopping! Make a change from the US.

Thanks,
Richard

Maybe, but then I'm guessing here that it was one of the Corporate Sales team that you spoke too.

Our BA account manager doesn't like me for some reason, couldn't think why... Must know our AmEx Corporate Travel account managers as they can't stand me either....

Thanks,

I guess if anyone is going to be in the area (early for a flight, perhaps?) they could take a quick peek and see which ones don't look like they have too many roaches.

We're only at the bottom of the M4 - nice excuse to drop the roof and go for a spin an evening this week....

Might drop in for te bowling, and maybe the meal, but I'm not sure what the young lady will make of the idea. She's not quite as au fait with meeting people off the net as I've become over the years.

Would be nice to meet up with you all and put some faces to names at last. I might even recognize a few of you from waiting by the gates (those few who don't get to hang out in the lounge... grr...)

Is that a young American college chick? Does she have a friend.... :D

Hey even us lounge lizards have to barge thru make our way thru the boarding queue, so you could recognise us from there.

Thanks,

I was personally escourted though the boarding queue right down the walkway past all the other people right to the aircraft door last week for my VS19 UCS flight - boy did that feel good - one of the advantages of checking in late for a flight :D :D

Having consulted with "Higher Authority", I now have a Visa to attend the festivities on the 12th.

I can offer myself up as a designated driver for the day if required.

(I will be coming from the M23/25 junction)

You best bring that with you so that we can authenticate the validity of the visa for all our sakes, nothing worse than an upset woman.....

Upto 17 so far then.....

TBS - Must be going blind, can't see your name on the list..... Pix will need help on the Guru/Autograph table.

So where are we with items for the raffle/auction? Thats right - the raffle/auction! I'm sure the bidding will be intense for some of the items:

- Sealed UC Sleepsuits
- Unused UC Amenity Kits
- Past merchandising
- Lunch with TBS in Edinburgh....
- Chance to win one of Pix's proper luggage tags (which will be freshly stolen from his case in retaliation for the theft of mine...)
- Hopefully we should have sign-off on the luggage tags, so I'm sure we can create some limited edition tags for the lucjy bidders/winners
- Hopefully VS will donate some cool stuff too (dinner with SG would attract the wads of £50's from me...)

Or maybe we could do some random quiz questions (I'll set some real buggers too for the better prizes like lunch with TBS)

The event is the first of many, no reason not to miss it - cancel your weddings, bar mitzvahs, flights - just be there for the entertainment. Can't wait to meet pixuk.....

:D

Thanks,
Richard
