We're flying in PE on VS7 LHR to LAX in August and our Agent has offered us a chance to upgrade to Upper Class on VS23 and VS24 for £150 each way - including the Clubhouse etc.

What do you all think???? Do you think it's worth it on the airbus or not????? Help, she needs an answer asap and I really don't know what to do. Seats offered are 4A,C & D.
thanx alot

I agree - no doubt at all - it is a bargain, go for it.

Did they say why or how it is possible?

Thank you all & I really mean that!!:):):)
when we were offered the deal, I didn't know what to do, as I'd heard some adverse comments about the Airbus on the LHR-LAX route. So I immediately thought of you all!!! Thanx so much for replying so quickly.......guess what????

I got out Mrs Credit Card[:I] and it was only £270 return not £300!!!Apparently because Virgin are trying to play BA at their own game with flying out Club but only flying back World Traveller...Trust Sir Richard to go one better eh??

I'm so excited!!! It's our son's 21st Birthday present, he didn't even know he was going PE let alone UC!!!
Tell me, will it have all the things I've read about, a bar and on-demand video etc.,? (Big Kid or what!!!![:I]
Again thanx alot!!!

Good choice. It'll be a flight to remember!

You'll be on an A343, so the J2000 Upper Class seats, a bar and either Odyssey or Arcadia IFE (sadly V:Port hasn't made it onto the 343s yet).

You'll get the full Upper Class treatment in the Clubhouse, and be able to take advantage of the on-board massage service and Freedom Menu.

Have a great flight!

I suspect this offer is a one off, since they're seriously overbooked on the VS07.

However, one word of warning. Upper Class will corrupt you - on the next flight PE will seem somehow lacking, and turning right instead of left will seem somehow wrong.

Welcome to my world. ;)

Well given that it's an A340 you won't make the mistake I made the first time I booked UC on a 747. Without benefit of this website I agreed to my travel agent's seat booking of 3A&C. I was purely disgusted when, instead of turning left on a 747 I was told to go upstairs. I had flown PE many times before and it was just like another PE flight (except that I went down to the bar!) It wasn't helped by the fact that the guy in the seat behind me could talk for England in a loud penetrating voice and did so! [:(] That flight wasn't the experience I expected - and it wasn't VS's fault - mine (and the guy behind me's) entirely!

Oh you are you gonna love this trip! There is no better feeling than one's first trip in UC!

That is such a good deal!

I'm really worried about flying UCS for the first time. Since flying PE I now always search for PE prices by defult (and generally book them). So after turning left for the first time I think I might aswell sell my soul to SRB.....!

£150 is a great deal
to put it in prospective I think thats the amount per leg VH charge for a economy to Premium upgrade!

Well done, what a top deal. You will love it and it will be a very special start.

Took Mrs VSlf for her first ever flight in J a few months ago, it was so good seeing her face as we turned left...got offered champagne...played with all the seat buttons etc etc. And that was with LH to Bangalore. Reminded me how lucky we are to be able to afford it.

The only downside, this will cost you so much more than 270GBP. Once you've tried it you'll never want to turn right again.....

Enjoy

You're all really kind with your comments etc., just knew I could count on you all...

I would have been mortified if I'd left ringing back the Agent until today, only to be told the offer had gone after all your wonderful comments!!!

I'll repay all your great comments by placing a Trip Report when we come back!!!

Don't thank people too soon - you will be cursing them in the future: as people have said, there is no looking back - you will be permenantly spoilt! ;)

My husband (and his wallet) still curses the first operational upgrade we received (LHR-LAX, Boxing Day about 4 years ago) from Economy to Upper Class. It is very tough doing long-haul economy after that... sad, but true! You would think that an op-up is being kind, it's actually a very clever marketing technique!

You will have the best trip! Looking forward to the report :)

Lucky you. I can only reiterate what others have said... Once tried there is no turning back (or right). What a smart move on the part of VS. I had a problem with my booking on the bucket & spade route a couple of years ago so transferred the booking from Manchester to Gatwick. When we checked in we got moved from economy to UC. I thought I had died and gone all the way to heaven and not just up a flight of stairs. The journey back in economy really rubbed it in so now it's time to go again and guess what? Yep! We're PE going out and Club Orlando coming back. The trouble is there are six of us including kids and grandkids and Dad's paying so my flexible friend is bent double at the moment. Enjoy your flight and don't forget that TR.

Have to agree with Boo Boo, it is a very clever marketing technique.

We were UG from Economy to PE on our 3rd VS flight many years ago, the next flights were booked in PE. Then, only a couple of PE flights after that, we were UG to UC and haven't flown any other way ever since!

Have a fantastic time annemarg, make the most of all of it :D

I'm with the consensus -- UC ruins you. I just flew in a JetBlue middle seat from New York to Oakland (as in SF Bay Area). It was a rough 6.5 hours. Much rougher since I flew in the UC suites just a few weeks ago.
