Hi, on the General discussion forum, I noticed that someone said that they are in PE from LHR to LAX and had paid £27 to go into the Clubhouse at LHR. When I enquired about this I was told it was UC only? Can you advise? Thanks.

As far as I am aware - this is only for people who book through Virgin Holidays and even then it doesn't appear to be universal - I have been told by VS that it can't be done - but others have clearly done it[:(]

As the year progresses we are trying to get the definative answer.

Thanks Nick. Ummmm, would have been nice to have been able to pay, as it's our Son's 21st Birthday surprise and we're travelling in PE too, not with Virgin Holidays though. Seems it should be the same for everyone. I can go with UC only, but not when they seem to differentiate between people all travelling in PE??

Don't give up - keep asking, you never know - a different person may give a different answer;)

Whatever happens, keep us informed of what you are told, please.

We travelled LHR to JFK in December (PE) and asked at check-in if we could use the Clubhouse Lounge. They told us, "no". We didn't give up and went to the lounge and asked there too, but they also told us "no" [:(]. We're flying PE LGW to MCO in 3 weeks time and we'll try there too. I'll let you all know how we get on.

My last trip with Virgin (ok, it was back in November 2002) but we were travelling Premium Economy and was given free access to the clubhouse at Gatwick.

Has it really changed that much.....[?]

When I was Silver and traveling Econ I was once offered the clubhouse for £20 I think.
This was from LGW though..
Never was offered it from LHR..

I guess LGW has more tourist flights so I doubt that many UC ticketholders or Au cards use it as much as at LHR[?]

Ditto - was given free access in August 2002 when travelling PE from Gatwick. Was given access to the Sir Robert Hardingham Lounge in August 2001 and wasn't given anything in August 2003 and December 2003.

Who wants to see the Robert Hardingham lounge? I have a pic here, but I felt if I posted it randomly, people might be confused by what its all about (it's not a VS or Priority Pass lounge) :).

If memory serves me well, the lounge no longer exists - hence why it dropped off the PP List.

As far as access for PE to the LGW Clubhouse, Mrs Buns and i have never had a problem with "paying at the door" and like others recall the post 9/11 situation when you were being invited at check in (for a fee) to enter the clubhouse.

Virgin Holidays have this now on their web site:-

Relax in the Clubhouse before you fly
Virgin Atlantic have an exclusive lounge at Gatwick Airport know as the Clubhouse. This is set in a superb location overlooking the runway, with easy access to the departure gates. Access to the Clubhouse is now pre-bookable at £30 per person (min age 12). This includes complimentary bar, bar snacks, music room, computer games room, hair and beauty salon, (extra charge) shower and washrooms (smart/casual dress code applies).

So does that mean that under 12s with their own UC seat cannot go in, or is that just pay as you go punters?????

Ahh right. Thanks for that. Not much point posting a photo up then. It wasn't a great lounge really.

On the IAD-LHR flight today there was a young unaccompanied minor who had his own UC seat. He was also in the Clubhouse.

Miss jag has always been welcomed into VS clubhouses with us when travelling on paid/reward UC tickets or as a guest with amex plat card(a few years ago)and now as a guest with VSAU card on any ticket class.A lot of the lounges in PP say no under 12s but we have never had a problem on entry(well she is always far better behaved than me anyway:D).
