Has anyone known or actually done the Necker award trip? (1 million miles required.) If not, is this something the mileage whores should be going for?? :)
Yep, this is definitely one of those fantasy rewards.
I was thinking about going for it, but as soon as you start to trade miles for upgrades (company only ever pays for economy) then it will always just remain a fantasy.
I guess that finding a company that needs employees for regular long-haul business-class flying is the most common way to Necker island.
I was going for it but then decided that its not the most efficient use of miles.
1m FC miles gets you 10 Upper Class Returns or 12 for the US - these have a much greater vlaue than the Necker Reward - as it has to be used during one of the 'celebration' weeks which happen only a few times a year, and has a value of around £15k.
As Richard says, not really worth it. I've spent almost 600,000 FC miles this year, so I was getting close, but UC flights are just too much of a draw for the points to sit in my account for very long.
Just a thought, would you get treated as a normal UC pax, or would you get V50 service, if you see what I mean. I would imagine I would be unhappy if it did not include an audiance with the big man himself! ROFL!
I'm with you on that one Dean.....my FC ballance hardly ever gets higher than 100K, once it gets to 80k it's spend time........51K and counting till my next UCS reward flight!!!!!
It doesn't represent good value for money and like the rest of you, when you get above the 80K it's time to start looking againg
We have two trips coming up and Birkins on miles on both, LAX UC in Sep and JFK PE in Oct and we still have about 40K in the bank so by the time I've done my revenue flights and transferred some more Amex points over we will be back to 80K again, now where's that brochure...
