I'm not sure exactly where this picture comes from, but it looks geniune nevertheless.

I have to say I'm not quite sure if I like it as much as the current one. I think they should have just changed the Virgin font and left the existing tail colors.

Edit by mod to date thread to try and prevent confusion.......Nick

I like it.. good to see the flags are still on the wingtips

The official line for the logo is the tail with the respective airline (atlantic, blue, america or nigeria) after it in the current font! From this i'm not sure if the picture is a genuine VS release!!!

Denzil, I think that's the logo you're referring to, not the livery.

Didn't see that. Woops. I think it deserves its own thread though.

No offense taken. I'm actually doubting the authenticity of this photo now, myself. If you look closely the registration is G-VFAB (most likely the first aircraft to get the paint scheme), however I'm pretty sure the name of the plane says Ruby Tuesday, not Lady Penelope.

I agree it does look like it says Ruby Tuesday. Also since the first A/C will be a 346, would it make sense to have the plan on a 346???

[:?] Personally I believe that is a photo shop job. When the current silver livery was done- VS produced a painting of the new livery on G-VFAB. The painitng has subsequently been used on postcards and features in all travel brouchers when talking about VS, or did in the last broucher I saw(trailfinders newsletter)! The picture on a.net is the exact same painting except they have applied a virgin america style tale.

Kinda off topic but also nice to see VS marketing got the new logo out into the public eye well, with a cheap flight offer in the evening standard and advertised earlier in the morning in the standards sister paper the metro. [^]

Well it's obviously a photoshop job seeing as though the first aircraft with the livery won't come out until October. The question is whether it's from VS or not.

No 'Varga Girl' decals either! Hope the new scheme incorporates her.

Erm, adb, is there any point in resurrecting a two-year-old thread? I'm sure many of us can't remember the old livery - I certainly can't

Without sounding like im having a go at you HL how can you not remember the old livery?
Its still on the majority of the fleet

Depends if you're referring to the 'old livery', the 'old old livery' or the 'way old, old livery (Times New Roman font-a-like)'.

Either way, threads dug up from 2 years ago probably aren't *that* relevant to today's discussions unless there's been a specific new development relating to the content that was posted back then... [;)]

I should have said 'previous livery' which is what adb said. [:D]

My real point, which has been endorsed by preiffer is the resurrection of ancient threads

On the subject of the new livery, whilst it's clearly not going to be high on the list of priorities at most airlines, is VS going to be re-painting the whole fleet at some point? The livery only seems to be on the newest few A346's, G-VSUN and one of the LGW 747's. I guess it'll get done at heavy maintenance checks?

Yes that's correct, also note that the new livery has changed on the tail from white fading to red, to red fading to purple.
