I couldnt see if this had been mentioned before, but the SYD flights for both Y class and upper class are now showing on expedia.

Meanwhile Y class only is showing on the Virgin Atlantic website (in addition to the Malaysia codeshare flights)

Flights are also showing booking for the hkg-syd segment alone, so it looks like stop offs will be possible.

Thanks for that, Richard

I don't think there was ever going to be a problem with stopovers, if you book two seperate flights LHR - HKG and then HKG - SYD, but it depends how much extra it will cost compared to booking a ticket LHR-SYD with no stopover included.

Excellent news about those stop-overs!

I had thought that VS were only going to stop briefly, not letting any pax off, whichwould be a real shame! If you can book the two segments seperately then i will be over the moon - and saving those pennies!!!

Just looking at a UC trip LHR-SYD in late Jan05 VS 20p more expensive than BA - other than loyal VSflyers how are VS going to pull market share on this route....i do hope they start to aggressively challenge BA/QF for market share.

How much is the LHR-SYD-LHR ticket in Upper Class?

What subclass is this book under?

Will it be a 346 or 744?

If it is the same as QF and BA it might be a bit hard for them to compete in the market. I am sure SRB will have some big promotion planned. The slience and anticipation at the moment is all part of the FUN!!!!!

This is pretty expensive.
On CX, from SYD-HKG-LHR Return = 7300AUD in D Class.

I think BA/QF is slightly more expensive = 8400AUD

At the moment the VS (MH Codeshare) to LHR (SYD-KUL-LHR) = 6000AUD in I think D Class.

Therefore I think VS will be offering something around th 6000AUD mark on the new service via HKG. (= 2300GBP)

Also I am pitching that SYD-HKG return = 3800-4000AUD (CX and QF currently = 5000AUD)

I think your price is prob a D Class ticket or higher. That is pretty high (well I hope they will be lower!!!)

Its the only fare coming up at the moment. I hope to see a few lower ones appearing but I do not think VS are going to be selling UC seats for peanuts as they know their product is far superior to all the other carriers J class on this route.

However they also have to note that many Aust Companies have special deals and relationships with QF and BA and also CX. Therefore in order for them to really compete they have to reduce the fare to a level that is attractive to premium leisure travel pax!

I think if they keep the current price they charge (the MH codeshare service) @ 6000AUD will be reasonable.

I think that the UCS will lure some pax, especially if they could choose that over BA. There may be some advantage in flight times and such too.

Virgin is a strong brand here, and with Virgin Blue im sure they will have plenty eager to try it. I cant see Virgin pricing themselves out of the market, although the prices including stop-over are very high!

Expedia today ...

LHR-HKG-SYD on 8/1/05 in Y comes in at £956.40

LHR-HKG on same day was Y £631.20, with HKG-SYD at £1453.20 Ouch!!!!

Im sure that once the flights are up and running that the fares will sort themselves out, but i hope that the HKG-SYD sector comes down i price from what i saw today.

Otherwise, it will be one to save the mils for!

I hope the price will adjust too. i spoke to my travel agent he said There are no consol fares or net fares yet. He can't really make a booking unless it is on full publish fare.

I know Virgin has a strong brand, but you will be amaze as to how many corporate accounts QF and BA has over Virgin. And of course that dictates the majority of the demand in J Class.

I am sure at the end of the day companies just tend to place economics over comfort for their staff!

As I said before HKG-SYD should only be around 3800-4000AUD in J Class
In Y Class it should around 900-1000AUD MAX! the price you got there is ridiculous!
