What is happening to LHR-SYD

I want to get some CONFIRMATION as to whether VS got the approval for the LHR-SYd or not. As:

1) the VS homepage does not give an indication that this flight is available

2) CX has not being granted the LHR-JFK route

3) Absolutely NO news in SYD re: VS coming in December.


I did read an article on Reuters and it did say the route is still subject to government approval and that the premature announcement is just another SRB's publicity stunt.

So can someone PLEASE give us some confirmation from a third party to clear this issue.

i hope its not a publicity stunt as Ive brought and paid for tickets

Are there any restrictions?

As in SYD, we cannot even get a full published fare as yet on VS! (Except on the MH flights)

Also are you booked under LHR-SYD or LHR-HKGx-SYD (x denotes stopover)

Booked london - hong kong (for refuel) and then onto Syndey return booked about 1 week ago

economy with Virgin have also prebooked seats on a airbus 600

But on your ticket, Is it LHR-SYD or LHR-HKGx-SYD?

I got a feeling VS has not being given full approval from HKG, so therefore they cannot sell it with the HKG stopover. More importantly they cannot sell the lucrative HKG-SYD-HKG routes

I did ask about stop overs it is possible in hk but for more money!! I also check it was on Virgin and not Mayalsia airways.

You still can't book it on line, altough last week you could!! strange

as I am thinking that VS will do something EXTRA SPECIAL soon and it will shock both QF/BA and CX!!!

Hopefully a huge discount wall just like 1 month before December??
