Have you found a way of acquiring FF Miles (or dare I say tier points) with your purchases?

Buns

Yes, I know it's an old thread, but ........

I seem to recall in The Bearded One's autobiography ( or was it Tim Jackson's biography?) that SRB was considering planes without windows because of the fuel saving that would result. He was quickly persuaded it was not a good idea. However, why not have no windows gaining all that fuel-efficiency and replace them with LCD screens with projections of the ground whilst it is flown over. No more watching clouds - you might even be able to choose a nosecam view.

OK here goes:

1. Make the Website Flying CLub section more up to date- i rung to enquire as to when VS flights to SYD would be miles4money to find out it was already and sold out on my dates---why didnt website say so? Sydney advertised on website has been rubbish- no signs saying 'seats onsale now' etc i was waiting expecting it to be on VS website only to find it on expedia first (grrrrr)

2. Get better water service on red eye in Y. Whilst its all very well leaving drinks out in galley- firstly advertise this and secondly provide a bin, after all where do u put ur empty cup? Why not jsut make the crew hand them out every half hour as they do on many other airlines (NZ, SQ, QF all spring to mind!).

3. Larger legroom in Y- its shocking

4. echo the calls for same IFE etc across the fleet.

5. Install a passenger 'social area' SQ have done so on its 345's for all pax not just UC its a super idea and provides somewhere to put water and bin hehe

6. Get a customer service that answer ur questions/complaints

I don't suppose its possible for the new A380's to have bigger bathrooms than current?
You have to be a contortionist to use them!

the Airbus 330 has a larger disabled toilet I guess the 380 will have the same..

We have a large disabled toilet already on the A340 - it's located by the L3 door

This is for the benefit of the ultra-long haul flights (SIN-JFK, SIN-LAX) and this is a two class layout (a beefed up economy - similar to PE, and a Business Class).

I love the idea of a social area but my guess is the US homeland security would probably not be too happy - They object if there's more than 3 people in the queue for the toilets :).

Yeh I know that is for Sq's new leadership flights but i have two points!

1. LHR-SYD with an hour 30 on the ground in hkg is just as painful- especially in those crampt Y seats of VS

2. So how do SQ get round Homeland securtiy/faa ruling that people cant gather? After all the flights operate to/from LAX and EWR? And btw SQ have it correct- the economy plus bit only available on the 345 is sold at nothing more expensive than when the EWR route went via HKG and LAX! Well done SQ!

Well, I presume (hope!) that you will be able to exit the plane for a break at HKG. If not it really will be painful.

Any trip of this length is painful - I'm not disagreeing with the usefulness of such an area just questioning the commercial viability of providing it. There are a lot of airlines providing a 1 stop service from London to Oz - I guess when one introduces such an area they will all consider it - hell maybe SQ will extend the 345s to LHR-SIN routes. The real test will be LHR-SYD direct when it is viable with a full load - but SQ will not be eligible for that one so I guess its between VA, BA and QS to come up with something if they start that.

Good question - my guess is they've probably raised a few eyebrows but were so pissed of at having the mickey taken because of the last 'Keep your legs crossed' headline that they realised they were being a bit over zealous.
The fare bit is a bit strange as I generally find the 1 stop route to JFK to be about 10% cheaper but lets face it the cost of an extra few inches in an enhanced economy seat is certainly worth nowhere near the typical 80-100% hike you pay anyway - 10-20% seems much more likely.

Is this a hint about the increase in Y legroom which has been mentioned Declan?

Does this mean the A40-300's and 747's will not be getting an increase in legroom?
