Flying in Upper class to Hong Kong and wanted to know wither Suites are on the route as I have so far managed to miss them when flying!

LHR - HKG 19th of August
HKG - LHR 10th of September

Also question about Singapore Airlines as I will be flying from Bali as follows on the 10th

DPS (Bali) - SIN (Singapore Airlines)
SIN - HKG (Singapore Airlines)
HKG - LHR (Virgin)

Can I get my bags checked all the way through and get boarding cards issued or will I have to check in for the Virgin Flight at Hong Kong?

I'm flying from Hong Kong to London next week, so I'm hoping that I'll be lucky and get the UCS.

I believe that roughly the London/Hong Kong flights now have the UCS (3 or 4 each week) but honestly I can't make sense of the flight database here to confirm whether this is true or not. Planes appear to be flying all over the place, so I think there may be some rogue data somewhere!

Both your dates currently have non UCS aircrafts. Could always change as G-GOA and G-ATL are due back from UCS fittings before your inbound date

Whenever I try to use the Availability Tool is says that the system is down. Is this normal?

If you're referring to the availabilty tool which you download and run off your PC, yes that is usually down for 5 hours then up for 2. It has a message to this effect when you try to use it. If oyu're quick, it's up now for the next 1 hour 35 minutes!:)

Alternatively, just use the web-based tool here:
http://www.flyaow.com/classamex.htm

That's never down, and it's nicer to look at.

Even better - become a V-Flyer member and that will grant you access to The Clubhouse section, wherein you will find the tools you need, right here! There's a link to info about signing up on the main forum page where The Clubhouse section is.

I tried the other website, but was initially confused because all the seat plans showed the old configuration, but I guess that's just because there aren't many UCS aircraft currently flying this route (tonight seems to be the exception and it does show the new layout).

I did manage to finally get on to the Availability Tool. Assuming that '34S' means that it's got UCS? and 346 that it hasn't, not many HKG-LHR flights have UCS. My hopes were raised because the 'Which Aircraft' database here seemed to show nearly half the flights in the last couple of weeks with UCS.

Checked with Virgin just to be sure, and my flight next week has the old seats [V] so I am getting consistent information, even if it's not what I want to hear. Ah well, better than cattle class, I suppose!!

Yes your bags can be checked by vs at LHR all the way through to your final destination regardless of the fact that u are flying SQ.

SQ's close links with VS means that bags can be checked all the way through and they can issue you with your boarding passes before leaving london- or at least they did this with me to Christchurch!

The alone thing that may happen is that in SIN they may call you forward to the gate before boarding. This is so that they can swipe you passport to show u did leave singapore and didnt gain entry to the country somehow (as far as im aware), they may also reask security questions but as for bags wave goodbye in heathrow and see them at ur final dest....and yes they will make it!
