Does anyone know if children are allowed in the upstair PE? We are flying from JFK to LHR and are have seats upstairs in PE and just wanted to know if children are allowed up there.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against children, just curious.

I've travelled in PE upstairs down through the years with my child but on each occasion he has been old enough to manage the stairs. I think the criterion is that people assigned to the upstairs cabin must be able to negotiate the stairs so I don't know how this figures with a babe in arms

Sorry to push back on this topic, but I'm confused... the Virgin website says, and I quote:

Under Infants on

No babies are allowed on the upper deck unless by prior arrangement.

Have they changed their policy or are they just only sporadically enforcing this rule?

We're travelling with an infant ticket for our 16 month old and had requested a bulkhead seat with skycot. When I called to reiterate our needs, the phone agent said, "oh, it looks like they automatically assigned you to seats in the upper deck (not bulkhead) but since children aren't allowed upstairs I'm going to need to give you something on the lower level."

Should I call back Virgin and insist on upper deck?

Thanks,
Kat

Skatterfly,
What route are you flying?
Personally, we have flown with our child at 3 months (downstairs, bulkhead saet with skycot both ways) and at 18 months old (downstairs out, upstairs back) and quite frankly, I would prefer to fly with him downstairs than struggle up with little one, plus bags, also you get off quicker than again struggling down the stairs.

if you are doing the MCO route as an example, there are no PE$ seats downstairs at the moment, so you get the UC seats which are far superior than the PE seats upstairs :-)

LHR 747-400 DO NOT have any sky cot positions in PE at all so the baby would be seated on your lap all flight.

LGW 747-400 have sky cots upper deck only.

A340-300/600 have them in PE
